Wow! I feel so spoiled by the fall 2008 colour palettes.
I’ve been playing around with so many incredible shades that I absolutely love and up to now I’ve not been disappointed at all.
I’ve been wearing makeup for a while and I spend a lot of time looking and playing with makeup all the time so when I try a new shade and I’m taken aback by how incredible it looks … I like to share it!
I’m quite partial to purple and I’ve been wearing it for years because I find that the contrast of brown eyes and purple eye shadow is quite powerful.
Purple is THE colour for the new season, but most makeup companies have always had a number of purple shades in their standard collections. That said, this year, YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) Beauty has two new palettes that left me gasping for air.
When I finally came around to trying them … I was NOT disappointed.
If you are new to this site, then you might not know my long lasting relationship with YSL Beauty … I’ve been wearing the makeup line since I was 16 (old enough to start wearing makeup). In a sea of black containers, YSL Beauty has always and continues to stand out with their blingged-out gold packaging.
Indeed, a girl doesn’t buy makeup for the packaging alone, which is why YSL Beauty is so fantastic because the packaging is quite attractive, but the colours are rich and beautiful. Yup, they will set you back a little further in your beauty budget compared to other lines, but this is one of those little splurges that make you feel so girly.
YSL is not the only line that has really left me giddy, I have some favourites from NARS Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Pop Beauty and Christian Dior Beaute.
In terms of nail polish, I’ll admit that Deborah Lippmann’s Pump Up the Jam and the entire OPI France Couture Couleur Collection is incredible and I’m always quite pleased every time I apply any of these shades. They are all rich, decadent and bold … what more can I ask for?
* Pump Up the Jam (from Lippmann Collection) is a shimmery of fall’s trendiest
colour - purple. This is a very dark purple that will no doubt make a statement.
* OPI France Couture Couleur Collection: The name of the colours this season will leave you wanting to grab the next Air France flight to Paris for a weekend of café au lait and croissants - “Louvre me Louvre me not”, “Parlez-vous OPI?”, “Eiffel for this color” “We’ll always have Paris”, “Bastille my heart” … the names are always brilliant. My personal favourites from that collection are “Louvre me Louvre me not”, “Bastille my heart” and Yes I can-can”.
Here’s a list of some of my latest favourite makeup finds!
1) YSL Beauty Ombres 5 Lumieres/5Colour Harmony for Eyes (#2): I like this palette so much that I would gladly wear it to bed!
2) YSL Beauty Ombres DuoLumieres/ Eyes Shadow Duo (#15): This deep aubergine and soft pink are absolutely glorious!
3) YSL YSL Beauty Golden Gloss (#14): This is a rich-deep berry colour with sparkles of soft shimmery
gold - decadent I tell you!
4) NARS Cosmetics Dolce Vita Blush: This is my new FAVOURITE blush of all time. This has got to be the most flattering shade of blush I’ve ever tried.
5) NARS Cosmetics Isolde eye shadow duo: This is a duo of a lighter and darker copper shades that are so flattering. You can easily wear this from day to night and you both look would be equally smashing.
6) MAC Cosmetic Parfait Amour eyeshadow: This amethyst shade of purple left me gasping as well. You can mix it with any colour to create different looks!
7) POP Beauty Naughty Red: This is not a new shade of colour for POP Beauty, but I still enjoy wearing it. Red lips are still the rage for fall and Holiday 2008 and if you are not comfortable wearing more saturated shades of red, this is ideal because it’s so sheer … you get the colour without too much intensity!
#8) Christian Dior eyeshadow duo (#685): This coral and mocha brown duo are perfect for day wear. They are soft, but yet they have a quite presence that doesn’t go unnoticed.
