Don’t sweat the small stuff; don’t sweat the big stuff, but you DO need to sweat. I’m a hardcore spinner and 45 minutes on a bike 3 to 4 times per week with a hardcore instructor will work up a serious sweat and get me in my happy zone. I know that a lot of you might be gym-phobic and simply not like to partake in any sweat inducing physical activities, but you might want to actually still consider dropping into a gym every month to sweat.
Most gyms will allow you to pay a drop-in fee to use their facility for one session. If you find a gym that’s located either close to your home or work and has a steam room or a sauna, you might want to pay the $15-$20 to use their facility.
Your skin is one of the largest organs and traps a considerable amount of toxins & impurities. By sweating you lose a lot of toxins that are trapped in your body. Toxins don’t go hand in hand with your anti-aging beauty regime so you might want to find ways to get rid of toxins.
A steam room or a sauna will not only help you eliminate those toxins, but will also build your immune system and leave you with a clearer complexion. The added bonus is that a short steam or sauna session will not only increase your facial circulation, but it will also give you that fresh and youthful glow.
Steam rooms and saunas are also a must for your winter skin care regime. A few sessions per month will help your skin remain moist.
So even if you absolutely, unequivocally, irrefutably HATE the gym, you might still want to bypass the aerobic classes, spinning room and weight area and head directly to the changing room for a good session of sweat!
A cautionary note: You don’t want to do what I once did. I once stayed in the steam room a little too long and not only was I dehydrated, but I also became light-headed. It was so bad that I had to sit down and another gym-goer got me a bottle of water to re-hydrate. Read the instructions posted near the stream rooms and saunas carefully!
