Skincare cosmetic rejuvenation treatments for men over 35
![]()
Are men making appointments with plastic surgeons or cosmetic dermatologist to turn back the hands of time?
Not long ago, we received a request from one of our male readers. It was very exciting to see that men are also concerned about looking as young as they feel … as they age. Mark is a 50-something year old Texan who is looking for ways to have his inside match his outside. Basically, Mark feels 40, but when he looks in the mirror, he sees a man who’s much older than 40.
More and more magazines are now focusing on men’s skincare and male cosmetic rejuvenation. It’s official, men don’t want to age faster than their partner and they don’t want to look older than their age.
There are more and more men-spas, department stores are selling a record number of skincare products for men and cosmetic doctors are seeing a surge in business.
I wanted to be able to answer Mark’s question as best as I could, so I compiled a lot of information that we had already posted on the site, but when it came to giving advice on which cosmetic rejuvenation procedures where best for men, I asked Dr. Paul Cohen for some help.
Dr. Paul Cohen is a board certified dermatologist and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Cohen is also a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of numerous associations, including the Canadian Dermatological Association and the Toronto Dermatological Society.
Dr. Cohen is also a member of the FACE Institute. If you remember a few weeks ago, I highlighted the wealth of cosmetic information available on FACE Institute‘s web site.
According to Dr Cohen, men are quite concerned with how they are perceived at work and because of this reason, they tend to opt for popular procedures such as
BOTOX Cosmetic®, hyaluronic acid facial fillers (such as JuvedermTM), laser hair removal and microdermabrasion to smooth out any wrinkled brow that might make them look angry, tense or tired … which is not a good look for men in management positions.
“Is Botox safe?” might certainly be a question a lot of men who are considering Botox for the first time might ask. The reality is that Botox has used by doctors in the US and in Canada for nearly two decades. I’ve compiled some key points of Botox that a lot of people might not be aware of:
* Botox is one of the most widely researched medicines in the world and has been used in Canada for 18 years. Since its first approval more than 18 years ago, reports of serious adverse events in patients receiving Botox have been rare.
* Over 15 million people have been treated with Botox for medical and aesthetic purposes around the world.
* Its safety profile has been well established. There have been over 3,000 publications on Botulinum Toxin Type A in scientific and medical journals.
* Botox Cosmetic is the same medicine that is used to treat patients with neurological conditions under the name Botox. Botox Cosmetic, however, is administered in much smaller doses for aesthetic use.
* According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), nearly three million Botox Cosmetic treatments were administered in 2007 alone. Ninety-seven percent of patients were definitely satisfied with Botox Cosmetic treatments, according to a survey of approximately 1,000 patients conducted by the research arm of ASAPS.
