Review: EZ Combs are WAY better than I expected
June 22, 2009 - Follow me on Twitter

A few months ago we featured the EZ Combs and after reading the comment from reader Natasha, I decided that I needed to find a way to get my hands on EZ Combs since they were not available in Canada yet.
You can read our original post here: Have you seen EZ Combs advertised on TV?
It took me many phone calls and email searches to get a hold of the company behind EZ Combs, but I did in the end get them!
May I just say that Natasha’s assessment of the EZ Combs is quite accurate. They are great at holding your hair and they prevent breakage.
Just like Natasha, I have a chemical relaxer and I have to be extra careful when styling my hair. My hair has been as strong as ever until 2005 when an overzealous and careless former-hairdresser burnt my scalp and my hair. It took me three years to grow back my hair and there is still some lasting evidence of that neglect at my ends. My hair was so damaged that for a long time, it would simply not grow.
Now that I know how delicate chemically relaxed hair is, I’m always on the lookout for styling tools that give me style with minimum damage.
If you’ve seen the advertisement for EZ Combs they show how the traditional butter fly clip is not the best when you try to rest your head against a seat and they are right! I’ve found that the EZ Combs are comfortable and you can easily rest your head without having the feeling that something is jabbing your brain.
The EZ Combs come in an array of colours, but I got the black and neutral kit. I usually limit my hair accessories to black because my hair is black and because I don’t like colourful accessories in my hair, but I did try the neutral EZ Comb in my hair and to my surprise, it looked really great.
The first day I tried this product was a Saturday where I had one million things to do so I was running all around the city and I cannot tell you how many times someone stopped me to ask where I had bought the product I had in my hair.
I unfortunately had to disappoint a lot of women when I told them the product was not yet available in Canada.
When EZ Combs start selling in Canada, it will be quite the event since all the women who stopped me couldn’t stop looking at my hair with envy
You can buy the EZ Combs online, but you’ll have to pay for shipping and duty and that really jacks up the price. If you are visiting the U.S., you can grab them at Walgreens & Sally’s Beauty Supply (as per Natasha’s suggestions).
The EZ Combs are sold in pairs and the Web site and TV offers are a bit more than what you’d pay at the retail level. Again, according to Natasha, the price at Walgreens & Sally’s Beauty Supply for the EZ Comb was $9.99 and I did confirm that when I landed on their Web site. If you buy the combs on TV or on the manufacturer’s Web site, they’ll cost you $14.99 for the pair (this is great news because since I first contacted the company, the EZ Combs are now $10 on their web site as well).
One last thing, I find the EZ Combs hold better when hair is partially dampened (the water flattens my hair). When my hair is fully dry then it’s quite expansive because I have a lot of hair and it’s a bit trickier to use the EZ Combs for my French Twists.
Would I buy this product again? Yes, I’ve got to say that I’m impressed and there is NO breakage!!!
