Review: Alyria Intense Complexion Lightener

October 10, 2009 - Follow me on Twitter

I’ve been using the Alyria Intense Complexion Lightener on my neck to help deal with acne scars and also help with a fairly large hyperpigmentation patch left behind after my winter eczema finally healed.

I find myself with more and more hyperpigmentation spots and I just don’t know how else to control them other than resorting to products to help me deal with them.

I often look at women with even skin in amazement. I know some have caught me staring and it was not for lack of respect, but for the fact that their skin was so perfect.

I cannot tell you how beautiful I find perfect blemish-free skin, but unfortunately it’s a reality I’ve never known and I don’t think I’ll ever-ever have blemish-free skin.

I have both hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentaion spots all over my body and that’s why I’m always on the lookout for new products.

I found Alyria products because the cosmetic doctor who is currently doing my facial peels (which are going fantastically well and I will document soon) to help diminish the unsightly acne scars on my face recommended that I consider this line to help with scars on my neck, shoulders and chest. I use another Alyria product (Alyria Resurfacing Body Care) on my shoulders and chest, but I use the Alyria Intense Complexion on my neck because the skin is much more fragile than on other parts of your body.

The Alyria Intense Complexion is an intense complexion lightener formulated with 20 per cent vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid) and other antioxidants to even out the skin tone and help clear up your skin. Here’s another great thing about vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid), it stimulates collagen synthesis and plays a huge role in prevention of premature aging of the skin!

Now, I should come clean and say you won’t see results in one week, but I have to say that after 45 days of use I can see some spots starting to fade and that makes me quite excited and it gives me hope.

Alas, I wouldn’t call the Alyria Intense Complexion recession friendly because it will set you back $85 USD/$108 CAD (on average, but I have seen it much less online), but I can tell you the product is very effective and does a wonderful job and helping face dark spots.

I’d like to say one last thing. It’s true that you can buy Alyria products online, but given the fact they contain a high concentration of active ingredients, it’s far safer for you to buy it at a cosmetic doctor’s office so that you can have some supervision during your treatment. These are not the same types of products you find at the drugstore and they should be approached in the same way … chances are you’ll need to be well informed on the application of Alyria products in order to use them safely!

One thing I should mention is that the Alyria Intense Complexion and the Alyria Resurfacing Body Care tend to stain your clothes at night.  I’ve been wearing the same t-shirt at night during my treatment and I keep washing it by hand to ensure I have it close by because it’s already stained and I don’t mind. Some of my sheets have also been stained because of the treatment. I’m also now using the same sheets which I wash over and over again. I’m not certain if this would happen to someone with was Caucasian and I’m wondering if it’s because these products exfoliate the skin deeply and therefore melanin from my skin rubs off.

Don’t even think of not using SPF protection when you use a product like the Alyria Intense Complexion!

Would I buy it? YES

Would I replace my current lightening cream? Surely! I’ve tried many other products in the past with partial results, but I’ve never been able to get these types of results.
