How can you replace waxing for hair removal during the recession?
I’ve never liked excessive hair on my body. It’s not something I can tolerate for very long.
Luckily NYC’s Shobha, known for its professional hair removal treatments, has a couple of alternatives that may appeal to those of you that can’t stand being hairy while saving some money in your purse during this recession.
Here are Shobha’s three solutions to waxing at home:
1) Brazilians are hard to do on your own!
Let’s face it, there is no way you can get the perfection that you desire in that region with do-it-yourself packages. Trust me, I’ve tried and they never really turn out very well. I’m normally left with a dull numbing pain and the hair is still there.
Shobha offers Brazilian bikini treatments (with your choice of sugaring gel or wax) for $66 USD for sugaring and $55 for waxing, costing at least $27 less than other places in NYC that often surge to totals almost reaching $100 per visit.
2) Okay, sometimes emergencies come up when you definitely don’t have the time to go to a salon.
Shaving isn’t really a great option because as you all know it just doesn’t leave you with a lasting softness that waxing or sugaring does. It’s not a bad idea to have a kit nearby to do last-minute touch ups. Shobha has a kit you can keep at home called the Shobha® Sugaring Kit for $30 USD. This is a pretty non-hassle kit. You can just pop the sugaring gel into the microwave to get it ready for use. It’s easy to remove as well. Just wipe it off with warm water after you’re done.
Sugaring kits are usually made up of food-based ingredients like water and fruit extracts with the addition of sugar. In this kit there is just the addition of glycerin plus the rest of the natural ingredients I just mentioned. Using sugaring gel is normally easier on the skin than wax. So this means that it would be okay to reapply the substance on a spot that missed some hairs without fearing of irritation to your skin. I’ve used sugaring kits before and have found that they don’t hurt quite as much as waxing does which makes it gentler on your skin.
3) Shobha also offers the Exfoliating Cloth, which will help you maintain soft and smooth skin just a little while longer.
These cloths are meant to be used in the shower after you’re done cleaning yourself up to remove dead and dull skin which also prevents ingrown hairs. Because the cloths are made up of 100% plant fibres, the cloths are flexible and machine-washable. The cloths themselves last up to one year and are great to use just before you remove any hairs. At a total of $15 USD per year, they come to about $1.25/month.
