Patrick Swayze is kicking butt at 56 in his new role on “The Beast”

I’ll admit that I’ve seen “Dirty Dancing” far too many times, but let’s face it when it came out in 1987, it was THE movie to see. I also will admit to having been moved when I saw “Ghost” a few years later (it came out in 1990).  Like so many people, I had put Patrick Swayze in this “good old oldies” box and really didn’t think of him much past the huge success of Dirty Dancing.”

In January 2008, I was as shocked as everyone else when it came out that Patrick had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and that he was undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer related treatments to ensure that he beats that illness. I remember seeing photos of him looking so frail and fragile and nothing like the rebel Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing.

Swayze was successful in beating the cancer and he’s back on the small screen looking fiercer than ever before.

The trailers for “The Beast” were really intriguing to me and I’ve been watching the A & E drama series where he plays good cop or bad cop (that’s still not clear) Charles Baker.

If you’ve not had a chance to watch “The Beast” and if you like these types of police drama, you’ll really like this drama … you’ll also like Patrick sidekick … Australian super-sizzling-hot-former-Calvin-Klein-model Travis Fimmel (God, I need to get myself to Australia – I HIGHLY recommend doing a Google search to see his photos as an underwear model)!

Another thing to admire about Patrick Swayze other than his comeback from a serious illness and the fact that his career is better than ever is the fact that he’s been married to the same woman (Lisa Niemi) since 1975!!! Even in the “real world” you won’t find too many couples who’ve been together that long and that are still happy. In Hollywood, that would sure make the Swayzes a really small minority.

It’s recently been reported that Patrick just signed a book deal to write his like story … it will no doubt be fascinating and inspiring!
