The holidays are the perfect time to take your look to the next level and go for super-glam styles that will get heads turning as you walk beneath the mistletoe.

I chatted with Pantene Consulting Stylist, Justin German, who has offered up three of this season’s hottest hair trends.

“The key for a great holiday look is to be bold – this is the time you want to sparkle and shine.  The great thing about Pantene products is they can help you achieve a bold look, with enough money left over to help buy a fabulous pair of earrings to set the whole look off,” says Justin.

1) Pump up the volume –Amplify your more functional outfit at your office holiday party with voluminous and full hair.  After using Pantene Pro-V Volume Shampoo and Conditioner, massage a peach-sized dollop of Pantene Pro-V Volume Mousse into your roots.  Blow dry hair on a medium setting upside down to get the lift; then bring head up and finish drying with the help of a natural-bristle round brush. “For a smoother look, direct the blow-dryer downwards in the direction of hair cuticles,” said Justin.

2) Tale of Two Textures – For a sophisticated look to sport at your friends’ dinner parties, try the dueling textures of a smooth, slick top and curly at the bottom.  To help get the look, wash with Pantene Pro-V’s Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner which helps tame frizz and smoothes hair, leaving it shiny and manageable.  Prior to styling, add in a split-end protection cream to help moisturize and prevent split ends, which is the key to a smooth look.  “Wet hair is especially susceptible to breakage, use a wide-tooth comb for hair to minimize breakage and then blow-dry hair,” said Justin.  Using a comb, apply Pantene Pro-V’s Smooth Serum through the top of your hair – from ear to ear and stop just below crown.  Then create curls with a curling iron or Velcro rollers to build an all-over wave through the length of your hair.  Work more serum into your hands and apply throughout the hair to loosen curls into a natural look.  To exaggerate the contrast between slick top and curly bottom, affix bobby pins behind your ears.  Finish with Pantene Pro-V’s Classic Aerosol Hairspray Flexible Hold to set the look.

3) Rocker Chic– When you are going out on the town for a New Year’s Eve bash, pair your favourite party frock with a romantic hairstyle that has an edge and try out some natural-looking curls.  To get the look start off by washing hair in shampoo and conditioner from the Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine collection.  Apply Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Mousse to wet hair and then blow dry.  “A great way to achieve natural movement and waves in your hair is to twirl sections of your hair around your finger as you blow dry,” said Justin.  Divide hair into one to two-inch sections and curl with a curling iron.  Use a hairspray like Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Maximum Hold Aerosol Hairspray to set curls and provide all-day hold and control.  Flip your head over and gently massage with fingers at the roots to loosen curls.
