Did you watch today’s (Wednesday, March 12, 2008) Oprah’s special: “How to look great at any age”?

I’ve got to hand it to Miss Oprah and her team of Celebrity style experts: Lloyd Boston, Charla Krupp and Stacy London (host of What Not to Wear on TLC) … they did a great job!

Now, I didn’t always agree with some of the looks … it could be a question of taste, but overall, the “before” and “after” makeovers were stunning.

Not only did Oprah and her team reveal the best looks for women, but they showed how you could adapt those looks as you age.

I agree with the panel of style experts who verbalized the reality of so many women in their 30s and 40s who have kids and who find themselves with little time to take care of themselves and keep up with fashion trends.

They also addressed a new reality: women in their 50s and 60s who have bodies comparable to women in their 30s because they have been active all of their lives. Lloyd Boston, Charla Krupp and Stacy London showed super-sexy looks for those über sexy 50-something and 60-something women that were still incredibly attractive, but looked far more sophisticated than what those women were wearing before.

I loved also the fact, that Lloyd Boston, Charla Krupp, Stacy London and Oprah understand that we cannot all afford a Jean-Paul Gauthier $3000 trench coat and presented many more affordable outfits that still looked incredible.

There were a lot of lessons and takeaways from Oprah’s “How to look great at any age” show and here are a few that really stood out for me:

* A crisp white shirt should be a staple at any age, but you need to buy a brand new one the minute your older ones start turning yellow because NOTHING will age you faster than a shirt that’s turning yellow.

* Matching bags and shoes will surely set you 10 years behind fashion trends. I’ll add to that: you won’t catch a French or Italian woman doing that!

* Keep up with trends that are age appropriate or else you’ll find yourself stuck in another decade.

* Jewel tone fabrics look very flattering as you age.

* Hair colour is a women’s best friend … and I could not agree more!

* Age-defying beauty and style are very much possible with a little work on your part.

* Pay attention to accentuating your waist line, as that’s the smallest part of your body and when you dress appropriately you can look thinner.

* Do go for a bra fitting to ensure that you are wearing the appropriate size bra.

* Charla Krupp revealed her favourite body slimming trick: Lipo in a box!

* When it comes to running about town, it’s not necessary to look frumpy … consider the many new “lifestyle” lines created for women on the go. You’ll find them at stores like Nike, Puma, Addidas, Lulu Lemon and Lacoste shops.

When it comes to looking amazingly sexy in your 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s, it’s a question of taking a few little steps that make huge differences in the way you look and the way your feel!
