Omega-6 fatty acids are essential for healthy skin and good health.
Just like Omega-3, your body cannot produce Omega-6 fatty acids, therefore you need to deliberately include it in your diet. Omega-6 fatty acids are also an important part of your skincare anti-aging regime because it’s also important for skin and hair growth. Like Omega-3, these essential fatty acids are essential for every living cell in your body.
When it comes to your overall anti-aging regime, Omega-6 fatty acids are important because research shows that they play a crucial role in reducing the risk of heart disease, cancer and stroke. Additionally, Omega-6 has also been shown to regulate a variety of biological processes.
The best vegetable sources of Omega-6 fatty acids include: safflower oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, sesame oil, evening primrose oil, wheat germ oil, soybean oil, walnut oil and pumpkin seed oil.
A note of caution when it comes to Omega-6, it’s reported that too much of these fatty acids may actually be bad for your overall health. The easiest way to include Omega-3 or Omega-6 in your diet is within the correct ratio (more on that tomorrow). That said, hemp oil (which you’ll find at natural health food stores) offers the best balance of Omega-6 to 3 ratio.
