I just love playing with new make-up. Even after all the years of wearing make-up and spending all kinds of money on cosmetics, I still love to try new innovations in the cosmetic field.
Maybelline New York just came out with its version of a battery-operated vibrating mascara. I was interested in trying out this new technology, but I was definitely not sold on the idea that I needed my mascara to vibrate.
The higher-end cosmetics companies have already launched similar products; both Lancôme and Estee Lauder sell vibrating/oscillating mascaras for around $32 USD/$39 CAD, but I was more drawn to the reasonably priced Maybelline New York Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara.
>>> You can read one of the reviews we did on the vibrating mascara:
Vibrating Mascaras are the latest “it” products on the market
Maybelline lists 7 must-haves to lash perfection on the package:
1) luscious thickness
2) luxurious length
3) smooth separation
4) intense colour
5) shapely curve
6) healthy lustre
7) zero clumps
I was looking for positive results for each of the seven must-haves.
The packaging also comes with terrific instructions on getting your mascara wand started in addition to information on disposing of the battery in an environmentally responsible manner.
>>> Testing the Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara:
The mascara comes in a typical drugstore cosmetic package: a tube of mascara encased in a plastic bubble that is affixed to a card that can be found hanging at your favourite drugstore’s cosmetic section. After removing the mascara from the packaging, I removed the tape around the end of the mascara and found I could easily start the vibrating by simply pressing the button. I applied the mascara slowly from base to ends.
At first, I found the soft buzzing and vibration a bit strange, but quickly got used to it especially when I saw the fantastic results!
Mascara removal was easy using my regular eye make-up remover.
>>> Did I see any results?
My lashes have never looked better. All seven must-have points were achieved!
I thought I knew everything there was to know about applying mascara because I’ve been doing it every day for more than 30 years, but I guess I had a trick or two to learn. My lashes were perfectly defined from root to end without a clump in sight. The vibrating wand also gave my lashes a wonderful fanned-out look – the way false lashes fan out, but in a more subtle and natural way. The shade I tried, Blackest Black, was very rich. The whole effect was quite remarkable.
A good tip to remember is that if you’re over the age of 35 or 40, just apply mascara to your upper lashes. You’ll achieve a more lifted appearance of the eyes. Applying mascara to the lower lashes might over-emphasize any aging effects like darkness and lines. The same principle holds true for using eye liner below they eye … just skip it.
Would I buy it? YES – it’s perfect! Run out and get some for yourself.
Would I replace my current mascara? YES.
Retail price of Maybelline New York Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara: $18.99 USD/$15.99-$18.99 CAD
