Makeup tips from Jennifer Lopez’s makeup artist

Makeup can act as an anti-ager!
According to Jennifer Lopez’s makeup guru, the right colours and application can take 10 years off of your face … without surgery.
Yup, you’ve read those words correctly. If you know how to apply your makeup correctly as you age, you can easily shave years off of your face and fool everyone around you.
Scott Barnes, J-Lo’s makeup artist, revealed how he uses makeup to transform the face of his celebrity clientele.
Scott Barnes revealed these beauty secrets:
Concealer: You don’t have to only use concealer under your eyes. You can blend concealer with cream foundation that’s one shade lighter to lighten key features.
Powder: Beware ladies … too much power can age you quickly.
Blush: You want to apply your blush on the apple of your cheeks and you want to avoid applying blush under the cheek bone area or else it will create a hollow effect and age you.
Mascara: I usually apply two coats of mascara (one on the outside of my lashes and one on the inside of my lashes), but Scott Barnes suggests applying three coats of mascara!
Bronzer: Make sure that you don’t use a bronzer like you would be using a loose powder. You shouldn’t be applying bronzer all over your face. You should actually use bronzer on parts of your face that the sun would kiss naturally and you should make sure that the centre of your face is lighter than the outer parts of your face.
Highlighter: This is one of Jennifer Lopez’s most loved beauty secrets. Highlighter is what gives her that J.Lo glow!
Lip Liner: That is one of the biggest cardinal sins of makeup. So many women wear a lip liner that is far too dark in comparison to their lipstick. You want to choose a lip liner that is the same colour as your lipstick or gloss (yes I do wear a lip liner with a gloss … but you’d never know).
Here’s another secret that Scott revealed that I thought was important to highlight: “Makeup should never look like you are wearing makeup. Your makeup should always look like it’s part of your skin.”
