Listen up: obesity for a woman could mean pancreatic cancer

There are countless studies on the negative impact carrying extra weight has on your body and I’m not going to list them in this post. I’ve often alluded to a number of them, but there is a new reason to be concerned about carrying too much weight.
A new British report reveals that women who carry too much weight around their stomach are 70 per cent at risk of developing pancreatic cancer (I’m sorry, but 70 per cent is a freaky high number).
Men have been the target of studies that link excessive extra stomach weight and this form of cancer, but it would appear that women are as vulnerable as men.
Here’s the kicker, the risk of developing pancreatic cancer among overweight postmenopausal women skyrockets!
If you’ve been to London recently you’ll know that obesity is a serious problem that is touching British women as much as American women. The diseases attached to obesity are numerous and it’s unfortunate that so many women would willingly (in a sense) put themselves at risk by adopting unhealthy eating habits.
The study went on to explain that pancreatic cancer is the fifth leading cause of death in the world and it accounts for about two per cent of diagnosed cancer cases each year!
The survival rates are desperately grim – according to Johns Hopkins University there is a less than five per cent first-year survival rate for patients who’ve been diagnosed with the disease.
The bottom line is that carrying high levels of body fat around your abdomen will increase your insulin and this might be the link with a disease as devastating as pancreatic cancer.
The British report was quite lengthy and detailed; I’ve summarized the highlights as a way of letting my readers know about these new findings associated with obesity.
I’d strongly recommend that you take some time to read the entire report:

Hi,
Its great you brought this up. I just saw “Super Size Me” the other day, and it was talking about a guy who put his health on the line by eating nothing but macdonalds for 30 days. And guess what? From a almost perfect body assessment before the trial, his liver started to fail and he developed cholesterol and lipids levels many times than before!
Goodness me when i saw the film! I am not an American (i am singaporean), but i think everyone ought to take care of their health in case many diseases like pancreatic cancer starts to creep up!
Nice post there!

Henry,
“Super Size” is a sounding alarm on a very sad but real situation.
I think there are a lot of issues relating to obesity that are never revealed because I think it would send so many people into panic mode.
Maintaining a health weight as we age is so crucial.
Thanks for your comment.
