Have you ever wanted to make your own beauty products but you don’t have the recipes?
I’ve been reading a lot lately that a lot of women were looking for recipes to prepare homemade beauty products to find a way to cut their beauty budget during the recession.
Homemade beauty products allow you to use all natural products at a fraction of the price of store bought products.
That said, it’s easier said than done when it comes to making your own skincare products at home and unless you have proven recipes you might end up with a big pile of mess.
Luckily, Leon’s Anti-Aging Beauty Secrets is a comprehensive compilation of beauty care secrets that has the power to change your life.

You’re not getting any younger!
For me getting old is not the real problem, but looking older than my biological age would devastate me.
I don’t care what anyone tries to tell themselves, but the image that is reflected in the mirror has a tremendous impact on the way we feel about ourselves.
If we like what we see, we feel more confident and more self-assured.
If you don’t believe me, just watch makeover shows like “What Not to Wear”, “How to Look Good Naked” and “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style”! The participants give a very different vibe at the end of the show (after their makeover) compared to the way they looked at the beginning of the show.
Some might say that the need to look younger is all about vanity, but truth be told, we do care about our appearances and we do care about how we are perceived by others. This resonates even louder as we age.

As an aging well expert, I know firsthand that you DO NOT have to spend thousands of dollars each month to keep looking younger as you age.

Is it possible to have the most beautiful skin of your life at any age?
North Americans and Europeans have been looking to the east to see what our Asian sisters have been doing to keeping looking more youthful as the age.
Thanks to this newfound obsession with the east more and more of us are not integrating antioxidant powerhouses like green tea in our diets. We’ve also see the Japanese skincare line SK-II become one of the most popular line to be introduced to the North American and European market and you even have Australian multi-award-winner Cate Blanchett as the face of the Japanese line.
Renowned Japanese Aesthetician Chizu Saeki is offering North American and European a greater insight into the Asian way of aging well with her new book: The Japanese Skincare Revolution: How to Have the Most Beautiful Skin of Your Life–At Any Age.
In her book, Chizu Saeki (who is 65) draws on over 45 years of beauty industry experience to help women around the world (thanks to this translated version of her book) to age while still maintaining beautiful skin.

The One Hundred: Nina Garcia’s new book is the perfect gift for the fashionista on your list!
Even Nina Garcia (judge on the hit show Project Runway and former fashion editor for Elle and Marie Claire) has admitted that it was a challenge for her to edit fashion into the 100 pieces women needed to have in their wardrobes to be stylish! Luckily for us, she was able to pair it down and you can take advantage of her fashion expertise.
I really like these types of books because most women don’t have access to a stylist and most women might not have the time to watch style shows like “What Not to Wear”, “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style” and “How to Look Good Naked” (I prefer the British series to the American one).
Candace Bushnell’s One Fifth Avenue will surely become another hit series and a favourite among women
Meeting Candace Bushnell earlier this year was an incredible thrill! I’ve mentioned the details of this meeting many times in the past, but if you are a new reader, you can catch all the highlights here:
1) Meeting Candace Bushnell author of Sex and the City
2) Revelations from Candace Bushnell author of Sex and the City
Not long ago, I was reading an interview with Candace Bushnell in the October 2008 issue of Elle magazine and until that point I had not realized how much Carrie Bradshaw’s character was a mirror image of Candace’s life. I remember during the meet and greet event where I met Candace in June, she mentioned that she actually did have a relationship with her own “Mr. Big”, but unlike Carrie Bradshaw, she didn’t end up marrying him.
Harper’s Bazaar Great Style Guide is worth buying
In recent years, I’d have to say that Bazaar has become my favourite fashion magazine. I’ve always loved their approach and they were the first to start featuring style tips for women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s!
It’s not as sexy for most commercial outlets to feature women over 35 because so much is geared towards teenagers and young adults, but at the end of the day, the cash tills at most stores are ringing because women over 35 can afford more expensive fashion, accessories and skincare products.
“Harper’s Bazaar Great Style“ book is not new … in fact, it came out last year, but since we are ready for a season transition, I thought it was important to go back to a solid reference guide that I personally think all women over 35 should own.

Steve Pavlina reveals the secrets to Personal Development for Smart People
I’ve been reading Steve Pavlina’s blog for a few months now because a number of other business and copywriting bloggers kept referring back to him. I’ll be honest, until Steve’s name kept popping up as an example of a blogger who was not afraid of writing essay length posts and in return was getting something like 2 million visitors per month, I had no idea who he was, but that kind of pedigree was compelling enough for me to want to know more about this trail blazer.
Steve Pavlina has a very colourful and interesting past, but what’s most interesting about him is the fact that he’s put to the test most (if not all) of the personal development tips and techniques he features on his blog. I guess, he’s quite accurate in his statement when he says that:
“Personal development is hard work. If you’re looking for shallow quick fixes, you’ll need to look elsewhere.”

My Interview with THE Hermes Birkin Bag Expert
Those French women have it so easy with all those fabulous designer brands. If you’ve ever been to France you’ll notice that French women don’t dress the same way most North Americans dress. In France it’s about quality instead of quantity and when a French woman finds an item she loves and that fits properly … she won’t hesitate to buy it in every colour!
Another thing you’ll notice about French women is their love of exquisite accessories. The French bring attention to details like no other country. The artisans in France are still regarded as men and women who possess an exceptional talent.
I was quite sadden to find out that many artisans’ careers (in Europe at large) had fizzled and had been exported to China where savoir faire (know-how) was replaced by mass production. From conversations with insiders I found out that many brands were partially assembled in China and then returned to Europe to be finished and to be “stamped” made in Europe. One company that is still using a long traditional of artisans is Hermes.
Hermes is one of France’s most prestigious, luxurious and expensive brands and it’s also one of the brands that’s the most coveted by Hollywood celebrities and the rich and famous on the planet.
Le carré de soie (silk scarf) is the entry point at Hermes retailing usually at about $295-$400 (depending which country you buy it in). That said, THE item that cannot seem to remain on the shelves for very long it the Birkin handbag.

In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto by Michael Pollan
“. . . we’re eating a whole lot more, at least 300 more calories a day than we consumed in 1985. What kind of calories? Nearly a quarter of these additional calories come from added sugars (and most of that in the form of high-fructose corn syrup); roughly another quarter from added fat . . .” – Michael Pollan
I’ve written a number of posts in the past about my views about food. If grocery shopping was an Olympic sport, I would represent my country well because there is no greater love (and joy) than discovering new foods at my local markets, grocery shops or natural health food shops.
