The most common complication of laser resurfacing is hyperpigmentation.
Hyperpigmentation occurs when your skin tone turns darker than normal. This change in skin colour can sometimes happen immediately after the procedures, but in most cases, the real change starts three to four weeks after surgery and can last several months.
A startling side effect of laser resurfacing is the fact that some patients develop a herpes virus infection (the virus commonly known to cause cold sores). In most cases, herpes was already present in the patient’s body, but the virus flare-up is caused by the surgery.

Laser Resurfacing has been adopted by women over 35 as a way to erase some of the signs of aging

Some people start seeing the permanent signs of aging as young as in their mid-twenties. Depending on your genetic pool, you may start seeing laugh lines, crow’s feet around your eyes or a somewhat wrinkled forehead as early as your mid-twenties. It’s true that a few lines on the sides of your mouth or etching the corners of your eyes are inevitable signs of aging, but unlike your parent’s generation, you actually have options.
Obviously, no wrinkle cream or medical rejuvenation treatment can fully stop the effects of time, but you have options to help lessen the appearance of wrinkles and other minor skin conditions, such as age spots or acne scars.

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are the most gentle chemical peels

Alpha hydroxy acid peels are the gentlest peels you can get. AHAs will help smooth rough and dry skin leaving your skin soft and supple. If you suffer from photo-aging, this might certainly be the chemical peel recommended by your cosmetic dermatologist or your plastic surgeon because alpha hydroxy acid peels are effective as improving the texture of damaged skin. Alpha hydroxy acid peels are also excellent at combating and controlling acne.
Darker-skin beauties will want to opt for an alpha hydroxy acid peels when looking for a safer option in reversing hyper or hypo-pigmentation spots.

The United States is #1 when it comes to cosmetic procedures

I would have said Brazil … for sure!
There is a little secret among many Latin people about how many pageant contestants from Spanish-speaking Caribbean Islands, Central and South America quickly go under the knife to be able to have the most perfect bodies and faces for the local and international beauty competitions. My friend Rafi (a native of Curacao) and I love to go on about it whenever Miss Venezuela competitions are presented on the telly.
If you look back, you’ll notice a fairly large number of Miss Universe winners from Spanish-speaking Caribbean Islands, Central or South America. It’s almost as if nine out 10 women from that part of the world was created from the same mole as Raquel Welch in her 20s … when the reality lies in the hand of a gifted plastic surgeon.

Should you consider microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive and non-aggressive resurfacing treatment that has been used in Europe for many years and that’s becoming more and more popular in North America. Some of the reasons that explain this surge in popularity include the fact that microdermabrasion takes much less time to administrate than other more invasive procedures. Another reason is the fact that there is no recovery period, no discomfort and you can resume normal activities immediately (as I said in my previous post, I had dinner plans one hour after my sea salt microdermabrasion and no one could tell … other than the fact that I was not wearing any makeup).

A phenol chemical peel is ideal to correct blotchiness

There are three types of chemical peels that are wildly used by cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeon in North America: phenol, trichloroacetic acid and alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs).
A phenol chemical peel will correct blotches caused by sun exposure, birth-control pills (some people react to them) and aging.

What can you do about those red blood vessels on your face?

When you look at yourself in the mirror can you see small red blood vessels? Do they annoy you and do you find yourself being self-conscious because of them? Would you like to get rid of them?
These small red blood vessels on your face are called cherry hemangioma and they are essentially broken blood vessel endings that are visible on the surface of your skin.

Sea Salt Microdermabrasion is ideal for sensitive skins

I had hesitated for a very long time in getting a microdermabrasion because I had heard that it left your skin very red and I was very worried that the redness would turn into hyperpigmentation.
When you decide to spend half of your life learning about products and cosmetic treatments that help you age better, you’ve got to explore every facet of the industry and that includes treatments you’ve never tried before.
I went to Kristen Ma for my microdermabrasion because Pure and Simple Spa offered an alternative for sensitive skins.
