When I found out that Beauty Match readers would be able to get some insider’s tips created by Celebrity stylist Robert Vetica created for two gorgeous and glamorous red carpet looks for celebs Salma Hayek and Kyra Sedgwick, I knew that my readers would be excited to learn more about such a master of hair!

If you notice, the hair style at these start studded events can make or break an expensive designer dress. Personally, I was scratching my head when I saw Drew Barrymore and Renee Zellwicker on the red carpet and presenting awards. Self-monitoring is simply a fancy term for recording or keeping track of what you do. Several research studies have shown that those people who keep track of their exercise habits have more success than those who don’t.

So how can you use the power of self-monitoring to improve your body? Here are five strategies we use with all our clients.

1. Keep a workout log

1) One way to self-monitor is to keep a workout log. To do this, all you’ll need to do is pick up a notebook and at the beginning of each week, set aside seven pages for the coming week’s workouts.

I know when Robin McGraw is talking about beauty on the Dr. Phil show because my stats go nuts. One year ago I started talking about Robin McGraw (aka wife of Dr. Phil) and I reviewed a few of her favourite beauty products. It took about one hour after posting those original posts to realize how incredibly popular Robin McGraw is among her fans in TV land.

I still think that one of the reasons she’s so popular is because she’s not trying to be someone else and I think people like that about her.

On Tuesday, January 6^th, 2009, Robin McGraw joined her husband on stage with a team of beauty expert to once again transform a few fans over 40 (Sheri 47 and Shelly 42) who had let themselves slide to the bottom of the priority list.

Do you remember the 80s supermodel Kim Alexis? She was the blonde with a mole on her left chin. As a young girl and young teenager, I still remember Kim’s face all over the cover of my Vogue magazines as the pretty blonde American model.

A few weeks ago, I was channel surfing trying to get away from the gloom and doom news of the financial markets free falling when I saw this advert for “She’s Got the Look: The modelling competition for women over 35″. I just about died because I thought that Miss Fierce-Tyra-Banks had the monopoly on modelling competitions in TV-land and I thought that the prerequisite 18-year-old-size-zero-girl-with-no-curves was what TV audiences wanted to watch!

Armed with the retailer of choice for First Lady-elect Michelle Obama, I attempted to be more recession-smart and try my hand at shopping online for a few deals.

I hit two major online retailers: eBay and J.Crew. This was my first time buying anything from either retailer and my experience was vastly different from one retailer to the other.

I’m a fairly small dress size, BUT I have long legs, I’m tall, I have a small waist, and I have curves. This makes buying a bit of a nightmare in many cases because it’s quite rare that I can buy something without trying it and I have to try-try-and-try again before finding items that fit because designers cut clothes that fit women who are short and who have the same hip-to-waist ratio.

I think we’ve all done it once: look admiringly at the face of our favourite female Hollywood celebs and hope that we either had “that” nose or “those” cheekbones or “that mouth”. I’ve reviewed the many reasons why the Lipstick Jungle style and fashion keepsme glued to my telly on Friday nights.

I wanted to remind my readers that the Lipstick Jungle Boutique on SeenOn.com has tones of the beautiful jewellery featured on Lipstick Jungle episodes and I just had to share this with other fans of the Lipstick Jungle show.

I have to say that Lipstick Jungle has had the biggest fashion impact on me since Sex and the City. The difference between the two shows is the fact that I can actually see myself wearing many of the fashion and accessories featured on Lipstick Jungle, while Sex and the City was more of a “I cannot believe she’s wearing this” reaction.

Since early October 2008, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get away from all this gloom and doom recessionary-deflationary-great-depression-of-our-time talk that reporters have been feeding us 24/7.

It’s true that nothing from Hollywood would surprise me anymore. I surely know that after reviewing the “baby food diet” in my last post from my new favourite British series on weight and diet “SuperSize vs SuperSkinny”, anything goes in Hollywood when it comes to staying as slim as possible in front of the camera.

It’s true that it’s easy for me to judge since I don’t have agonize over the fact that most people in North America are watching HDTV now, which is unkind to any signs of aging or “imperfections”, but it’s still mind-blowing to hear how many celebs under-eat and how many women avoid carbs.

It’s true that we’ve not seen Julia Ormond for a while now on film. If the name might not ring a bell, I’m sure that describing Julia as the leading lady with the AMAZING hair in the Legends of The Fall alongside Brad Pitt might help!

On camera she’s always portraying a girly-girl … especially in her role as “Sabrina” alongside Harrison Ford, but in real life Julia Ormond is a self-proclaimed tomboy who is more comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt than in a gown.
