Testing Dr. Michelle Copeland REWIND EYE FORMULA:

After cleansing my face, I applied a small amount of formula around my eyes and gently massaged it in. It can also be used on fine lines on the lips, and on the creases on the neck. I followed up with my regular eye cream and did this both morning and night.

The pump bottle forms a “plug” of dried formula each time I used this product and I had to wipe that away on a tissue every time I went to use the Rewind Eye Formula. As you might know from other reviews, I hate losing product because of bad design.

Did I see any results? I used this product morning and night for 4 weeks. Some of the fine lines around my eyes actually seemed less noticeable.

Would I buy it? I’d like to use it again, but feel that at $125 USD, it’s out of my budget range.

Would I replace my current eye product? Probably not, but I may have a weak moment and treat myself to the product again some time.

Elizabeth Grant Caviar Rejuvenating Eye Pads are one of my latest passions. I’m always on the lookout for something that works on wrinkles and darkness under the eyes. It was a great stroke of good fortune that I was assigned to test and review this product. And I L-O-V-E it!

Elizabeth Grant’s claim is that “Caviar Rejuvenating Eye Pads target the sensitive skin below the eye with Elizabeth Grant’s superior formulation of Caviar Extract, sea proteins and Torricelumn. Rich in Caviar’s Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Torricelumn, Elizabeth Grant’s superior moisturizing compound, these eye pads improve the skin’s firmness and elasticity in the delicate eye contours.”

Testing Elizabeth Grant Caviar Rejuvenating Eye Pads:

After cleansing my face, I dimmed the lights, played some jazz and got all laid back for 15 minutes with these eye pads under the eyes while the caviar worked its magic. It was a perfectly relaxing session and my eyes looked so fresh when I took off the pads. There was still some residue formulation under the eyes and all I did was to pat it in using a light hand.

Did I see any results?

The skin around the eyes looked so rested, much smoother, less lined and felt soft. Very fresh and rejuvenated … actually a touch firmer.

I’m hooked … have to get more!!! The effects were still noticeable the next morning.

Would I buy it? YES!!!

Would I replace my current eye treatment products? I will add these eye pads to my current routine a couple of times per week.

We tried one of Elizabeth Grant’s prestige gold products, but weren’t too impressed with the results.

A tiny little gold jar from Elizabeth Grant’s prestige line of gold products containing ingredients to restore luminosity to my skin – WOW! I really need that.

It’s that time of the year again … you know … the sudden return to that dull wintry skin we all hate in the cold weather. It’s just not fun to have sallow-looking skin when I feel so vibrant and radiant on the inside.

I’ve tried a number of Elizabeth Grant products recently and had really great results with all of them … err …until now.

Testing Biocollasis^TM GOLD Advanced Cellular Radiance:

I applied the Gold Biocollasis Advanced Cellular Radiance to my face after my morning serum – the wonderfully effective Elizabeth Grant Vitamin C Day treatment. This became my daily regime for three full weeks. That was so straightforward. The cream felt nice and went on smoothly without feeling greasy at all. Makeup went on well too.

Did I see any results?

Using gold as an anti-inflammatory treatment isn’t a new theory – it has been an accepted treatment for some time. That, along with nano-peptides and the Elizabeth Grant beauty mainstay of Torricelumn^TM should have illuminated my skin somewhat, but I honestly didn’t get any noticeable results. That’s not to say that it won’t work on everyone – it was just my experience with the product. My skin did feel adequately hydrated and looked smooth too, but it could have been the serum doing its magic.

Would I buy it? No

Would I replace my current radiance product? No

Winter always does such a number on my skin and it’s always challenging for me with it comes to hydrating my skin because I cannot use heavy creams without risking breaking out.

As you know, I’m late in the game in discovering NARS Cosmetics, and I only recently discovered NARS Skin! I have started using a lot of their skin care products, which are quite acne-prone-skin-friendly, but in this post I really want to focus on their Aqua Gel Hydrator.

I first heard of this miracle cream a few months ago, when makeup artist and educator Norman Sands (who also happens to be a celebrity makeup artist), sent me the entire makeup chart that he did on Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl. As I was reading his makeup tips, I noticed that he mentioned that he applied a product called Aqua Gel Hydrator on Leighton to add moisture to her skin.

What Norman didn’t highlight was the fact that Aqua Gel Hydrator is made of 87 per cent water-phase that helps deliver hydration to dehydrated skin.

Because the product is a gel, it’s light enough to be used by women who are acne-prone like myself, but the high levels of hydration still protect my skin from the excessive heat that blows on my skin inside my home and everywhere I go and the Aqua Gel Hydrator protects my skin against the cold-bitter winter winds.

The packaging suggests that you use the NARS Skin Aqua Gel Hydrator at night over eight hours, but because this winter has been particularly brutal, I’ve been using this protective gel during the day.

The NARS Skin Aqua Gel Hydrator retails for $76 USD/ $115 CAD for 100 ml and you can find it at Sephora and at a number of high-end department stores.

Did I see any results? Yes, my skin felt hydrated in the dead of winter.

Would I buy it again? Yes

Would I replace my current cream? No, I wouldn’t say that I would replace my current cream, but I’ve added Aqua Gel Hydrator to the mix for those days where I really feel my skin needs a lot more hydration.

The Ferox Pure Pulp is made from a wild South African aloe plant called ferox. Aloe ferox plants can be found in Cape Province in South Africa and they have been used by South Africans for more than 1,000 years as a remedy against burns. It’s only in 1967 that the regenerative abilities of the aloe ferox plant were put to the forefront by a surgeon after using the plant on a patient who had just received an open heart transplant – application of aloe ferox accelerated the reproduction of the fibroblasts …which are the cells responsible for the formation of collagen.

So did Ferox Pure Pulp deliver results?

I had high hopes for this product because I’ve been using a regular pure organic aloe vera gel for so many years (this is not aloes vera mixed with other ingredients, this is pure aloe vera), I thought it would be interesting to try a product that is made from this rarer form of aloe vera from South Africa.

I decided to wait until the thermostat was well below zero and my skin was in desperate need of moisture. I find that if a product works wonders in the dead of winter, you know it’s worth keeping!

After trying the Ferox Pure Pulp, I came out a bit disappointed from this test because I really didn’t find that it did a good job at hydrating my skin at all. Upon reading the list of ingredients, I realized that the aloe ferox leaf extract is number six on the list … water is the first one and there are eighteen ingredients in total in the formulation.

I think it became clear this product was not for me when I found myself waking up in the morning with white, flaky patches on my skin.

Another thing I didn’t like about Ferox Pure Pulp was the smell. The first time I tried it, I kept trying to figure out where the fishy smell was coming from. At first, I thought it was because of the Omega3 fish oil capsule I had taken before going to bed so the next night I applied the product before taking my Omega3 capsule and the smell was STILL there. After applying the product, I smelled my hands and realized in horror that the fishy smell was the Ferox Pure Pulp!

Did I see any results? Not really. I found my skin was as dry when I woke up as it was when I went to bed.

Would I buy it again? No

Would I replace my current serums? No, I’ve tried many products that were far more effective at hydrating your skin.

Ferox Pure Pulp retails for about $95 (it retails for 65€ and £48 … so it’s not much cheaper in Europe. It’s sold at a few major department stores in North America) and I’ve tried products at comparable prices and even cheaper that (like the Reversa Antioxidant Booster Serum) have been more effective.

The funny thing is that after trying the Ferox Pure Pulp for two weeks with little results, I decided to switch back to my regular (much more inexpensive) organic aloe vera gel that I’ve been using for a decade to remove my makeup and hydrate my skin and the next morning my skin looked and felt much better, more hydrated and supple.

Once those little, fine lines start settling in around the eyes, there’s NO turning back! Sun exposure, stress, diet, smoking, pollution and genetics all gang up on us. I don’t recall this ever being a topic of conversation while vacationing in the Caribbean sun many years ago, but I find myself having to deal with the outcome now…just like everyone else in my age group. If only there was no such thing as aging…

Thank goodness that so many beauty lines now offer full arrays of treatment products for the face, neck and eyes. I had the chance to try a really good eye cream recently – Elizabeth Grant Biocollasis Advanced Cellular Eye Cream.

Testing Elizabeth Grant – BioCollasis ADVANCED CELLULAR EYE CREAM:

It was very quick and easy to get noticeable results. Just scoop a very small amount of cream onto the spatula that’s included (to keep the cream clean and uncontaminated) and apply to the eye area using your ring finger from outer to inner corner underneath the eye. Gently massage around eye area twice daily. Even though the cream is thick and rich, it absorbed well and quickly so that I could get on with applying my make-up each morning.

Did I see any results? A softened, hydrated look around the eyes that lasts all day. It’s not greasy at all and leaves the eye area looking less lined. I thought it was great and it really worked for me as long as I applied it twice daily.

Would I buy it? YES

Would I replace my current eye cream? I THINK I JUST DID.

I have to admit that I have more of an issue with lines around my eyes than puffiness but I was interested in trying this nifty new product containing vitamin B and caffeine just to see what would happen. I wanted the “refreshed, awakened eyes” promised in the instructions on the side of the box.

Testing the Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew anti-puff eye roller:

I gently rolled this serum under my eyes from the inner to outer corner as instructed. It felt so cool and soothing that I kept doing it for longer than the one or two times recommended. There was no change in the look of my under eye area even after three days.

Then I came to the realization that I’d have to make my eyes actually puffy and tired looking in order to give this product a fair chance. What better way to do that than a whole night of drinking wine, listening to loud DJ music and chasing down model/waiters for hors d’oeuvres at The Gap’s VIP shopping event a few weeks ago (readers – please know that I will always sacrifice myself and take one for the team when it comes to testing new products and writing up an honest review).

That did it – I had the required bags and puffiness the next morning. The roller ball felt so good when I used it to smooth down the puffiness and my make-up went on neatly after that.

Did I see any results?

I did see a subtle improvement in the puffiness. It seemed to really work. The dark circles weren’t totally gone, but they looked somewhat better after a few days and my concealer did a great job on that as well.

Would I buy it? I would use it during the party season in November and December or if puffiness became a full time issue.

Would I replace my current eye product? No – I really need something more hydrating at this stage in my life, but this is certainly a good little fix to use as needed.

1) Krizia’s review of Reversa

I really had never heard of Reversa before watching those videos so I really had no clue what to expect.

I did my usual “smell test” because of my allergies to synthetic smell and I was very happy to see that the product had a lovely clean smell.

The first time I used Reversa, I used one pump and applied it all over my face and I realized with great surprise that it absorbs so quickly into my skin. I had to use ½ a pump to finish up my neck area … so you don’t need too much product to cover your entire face and neck.

The next morning was the ultimate test. When I test a product, I always rush to the bathroom in the morning to analyze my skin. After washing my face and drying it, I touched my skin and I was amazed at how soft my skin felt after only one treatment!

For the entire period of the test, I felt that my skin was always very well hydrated. Since I tested this product as the temperature was dipping and the air was getting drier, I can safely say this product does wonders at keeping my skin moist.

I was pleasantly surprised by my results with Reversa.

Now, I only applied the product at night before bedtime, but I found out from a few emails with Eleni that she also used it during the day before applying her moisturizer as a primer/barrier during the colder months. I found that idea to be so brilliant that I’ll also be following her cue and I’ll be using my Reversa serum during the day to protect my skin from the bitterness of winter!

Does the product reverse signs of aging? This is a big claim from the manufacturer. It’s not possible to say that after 30 days, my fines lines disappeared completely, but the product is excellent at hydrating your skin and that is the most basic step when it comes to skincare and to preventing premature aging. The fact the Reversa Antioxidant Booster Serum could be used at night as a night treatment and during the day as a primer is a great buy for women who like their beauty regime to be as simple as possible.

Did I see any results? I saw results the very next day because my skin felt and looked very hydrated and it felt soft.

Would I buy it? Yes

Would I replace my current serum? Reversa will surely be part of the skincare products that are a staple in my beauty closet (for new readers, I have so much beauty products and so much makeup that I’ve graduated from a drawer to an entire closet)!

Reversa Antioxidant Booster Serum – not just for cougars!

People have always been wishing for a magical anti-aging product.

Whether it was Cleopatra and her reported milk baths or Ponce de Leon’s Florida adventure in the late 1400s while chasing down the legend of the fountain of youth, we are obsessed with finding that perfect youth-preserving formula.

I’m fortunate in being able to try out many new products and formulations in my capacity as a product reviewer. Some make empty claims, but not this one. I’d say that Reversa Antioxidant Booster Serum is the real thing and definitely worth a try. I liked it a lot and will continue to use it.

I applied the serum morning and night to my cleansed face and neck as instructed. I tried using it as both a primer before applying moisturizer and on its own. It worked wonderfully both ways. I love the fact that it contains green tea extract, which is a proven antioxidant and important for addressing environmental damage to the complexion. It also contains vitamin E – very important for combating fine lines and keeping skin soft. This serum does not contain sunscreen, so don’t miss that step before heading out each day.

Did I see any results? Yes – my skin immediately felt softer and smoother. My face looked hydrated and not at all greasy. My skin looked nice and bright too. Makeup went on exceptionally well.

Would I buy it? Yes!

Would I replace my current serum? Yes – this is my newest fave find. Besides, any company that uses funny, racy ads to show women “of a certain age” in sexy situations is okay with me.

I must confess I have been enjoying the ad campaign for Reversa (you can watch the witty ad campaign here: Reversa Ad Campaign).  It’s smart and sexy which is a refreshing change from the lab coats and computer-generated molecules that promise to fight the environmental aging effects on my city-dwelling skin.  After a few weeks of using Reversa, there’s still no young and buff young man frothing a latte in my kitchen … but a girl can still dream.

Testing Reversa Antioxidant Booster Serum

I applied the booster serum as a primer on my clean, dry face before using my moisturizer and make-up.  I also used it at night. It has a light scent of citrus and green tea, which I really liked.

Did I see any results?

The serum feels very light, and absorbed quickly.  I liked the soft matte feel on my skin and my skin didn’t feel oily and my makeup went on well and looked good all day.

Would I buy it? YES

Would I replace my current product? YES, in addition to my usual regime.

From the no-nonsense packaging to the creamy consistency, this is one of the best neck treatments I’ve tried all year.

I loved the simple packaging – a 120 ml plastic bottle with a flip-top for easy pour access.

There was no discernable scent and the whole feeling was of something very clean, scientific and easy to use.

The consistency of the treatment was excellent – not runny or too thick. It absorbed well into the skin and left my neck feeling a bit firmer.

Isomers recommends applying once or twice a day. I used it twice a day, massaging a quarter-sized amount and working it up from the base of the breast area to the neck and throat.

Their website claims:  “Uncircle Neck Firming Treatment is designed to smooth, firm and lift the skin of the neck; décolleté and bust area giving it a more youthful fullness and softness.”

No cream will work as well as a surgical procedure in terms of lifting the skin, but this product firms and tones and doesn’t cost a lot. I can live with that.

Would I buy it? – Yes

Would I replace my current neck treatment? Yes

My initial assessments of Cossidia Essence Dual Essence Skin Repair System have not changed very much in the four weeks I’ve tried the product:

* My dark acne hyperpigmentation scars continue to fade nicely and more and more of the dark spots are disappearing all together.

* My skin does not feel has dry it usually would in the middle of winter.

* When I’m not wearing makeup, my skin glows a lot and I know it’s not because I’m sleeping more than before because I’m still only getting about 5-6 hours of sleep per night.

* When I do wear makeup, my makeup looks light and fresh … which is not something I usually am able to achieve in winter because usually my makeup look very dry because my dry is usually quite dry.

* I’ve had a lot of people comment on my skin and wondering what I was using.

* I visited an aesthetician who had done my sea salt microdermabrasion one month ago and she commented on how much clearer my skin appeared (because a lot of my dark acne scars had disappeared) to be and wanted to know what I had done differently.

* I think one of the best testaments for Cossidia is the fact that for the first time, since I can remember, I’ve hit that “time of the month” without one blemish … not one pimple … and not one pimple scar.

* For the first time in a very long time, I could see what my face looked like without having to constantly stare at pimples … I can just imagine how my skin would look like in 6 or 10 months of using Cossidia.

I know that a lot of new readers come to this site looking for a review on Cossidia Dual Essence Skin Repair System and they want to know if they should consider buying Cossidia Dual Essence Skin Repair System or not.

In my honest opinion, after trying this product for 4 weeks and seeing some substantial improvement to my skin and having other people comment on my skin, I’d say that Cossidia is an excellent anti-aging solution and it does wonders are fading away scars.

My dark acne hyperpigmentation scars are fading quite nicely and some are getting harder and harder to see (which is quite positive).

Although I’m a beauty editor, I’m no angel when it comes to pimples and if I have a monster basketball-like pimple in the middle of my face before an event, I’ll most likely attempt to extract it.

This actually did happen during my third week trial of Cossidia Dual Essence Skin Repair System and what I noticed was the speed at which the open wound heeled and also the fact that the scar left behind was never a dark-dark spot (like it would have been had I not been using the Cossidia Dual Essence Skin Repair System), but rather is was just a slightly darker pigment than my natural colour. This means of course that the light the hyperpigmentation, the faster it will disappear completely.

I think the biggest difference I’ve noticed to my skin is the fact that it doesn’t feel as dry as it would normally feel in the middle of a long and harsh winter.

I know that I’ve read that long time users of Cossidia’s Rejuvenating Capsules have found the use of daily moisturizer to be irrelevant. I would personally continue using a moisturizer as a barrier against my skin … especially because I do wear makeup, but I would certainly need to use much less moisturizer than I have in the past, as I can already feel how hydrating Rejuvenating Capsules is.

Up to now, I have to honestly say that I’m very pleased with the Cossidia Dual Essence Skin Repair System because it’s easy to use and it delivers on its promise.

Another important factor if you’re allergic to artificial smells is the fact that Cossidia Essence Dual Skin Repair System is practically odourless.

Now, it’s too early to give a definite verdict, but I will say that I have noticed a few improvements to my skin.

First off, we’re in the middle of a cold and windy winter (this is our third snow storm in less than one week) and usually at this time of the year, my face would be very dry, flaky and patchy. Since using the Cossidia Dual Essence Skin Repair System, I’ve found that my skin retains its moisture much better than previous winters.

Another observation is the fact that my acne scars are already starting to fade away. I really didn’t expect any changes this quickly, but after contacting the distributor, I found out that newer scars faded quickly when you start using Cossidia’s Scar Formula and Super Exfoliant Serum (which is the second part of the dual skin rejuvenating system).

One thing that I’ve seen with only few products I’ve tested is the fact that Cossidia’s Rejuvenating Capsules was completely absorbed by my skin. I had no traces of the product left on my skin or hands once I had finished applying it to my skin.

I have to say that I’m looking forward to seeing the end results in 3 weeks, because up to now, I’m quite happy with the results.

Cossidia’s Rejuvenating Capsules

As part of my January list of Best Beauty Finds of 2007 under the anti-aging skincare category, I had revealed that Cossidia Dual Essence Skin Repair System was one of the most searched products on the Beauty Match site. The searches came from all over the world. It was quite obvious that a lot of people knew about Cossidia’s Dual Essence Skin Repair System and wanted to know if it actually delivered on its promises.

During the month of February, I will be testing this Japanese anti-aging secret to see if it warrants of the buzz it’s been generating.
Since I’ve mentioned many times before that it does take a good 30 days to really be able to evaluate if a skin care product delivers on results, I will document my 30-trial. These will be very short weekly updates and at the end of my 30-day trial, I’ll write a more substantial review.

During my trial, I’ll be testing two things: the effectiveness of this product at repairing the skin and the product’s ability to lighten scars. This last part might be a little tricky because hyperpigmentation mark can sometimes take longer than 30 days to fade. That said, I will still evaluate if my scars look the same, better of worst.

Given that today is my first day, there won’t be much to report other than I first applied Cossidia’s Rejuvenating Capsules on my face which is sealed in a little capsule and then I followed with Cossidia’s Scar Formula and Super Exfoliant Serum.
