Once you try ColorMark to hide your greys, you’ll wonder what took you so long to discover the product!

>>>> Krizia’s review of ColorMark

When I was younger, I remember the women in my family trying to hide grey hairs in between colours with a dark stick. I don’t remember the name of the product, but I do remember playing with the stick and applying it on my face as it if was makeup.

The problem with a colouring stick is that it might not always look very natural. The same goes for the use of mascara to hide greys in between colours. Mascara might be an easy and inexpensive solution if you have dark brown or black hair, but it will leave your hair stiff, dry and dull looking.

If you are colouring your hair as a fashion or style statement, then you might not feel the urgent need to go running to your colour technician when you start noticing hair growth. On the other hand, if you are colouring your hair to hide grey hair, then you are certainly not keen on walking around with your roots exposed.

If you are looking for an in-between option that works well and that looks and feels totally natural, you’ll be happy to know that a number of editors on my staff have tried ColorMark and we all loved the product.

ColorMark is a temporary liquid hair dye that totally covers greys (it really does) until you wash your hair. Not only does it look natural, but when you touch your hair, it doesn’t feel stiff at all and the product doesn’t rub off on your hands. The best part is that you’re almost guaranteed to find the perfect colour because ColorMark comes in 12 shades including rich black, dark brown, medium brown, light brown, ash blonde, light ash blonde, golden blonde, light golden blonde, strawberry blonde, light auburn, dark auburn and really red.

Although it’s quite a simple process to use the brush applicator, it does take a few tries to actually learn how to properly use the little comb that comes with the product.

If you tend to sweat a lot from the head, then the product might not last until you wash it out. Also, if you tend to wear hats and tend to sweat a lot under your hat, you might want to be a bit more cautious as the product might not hold very well and it might run. If you don’t wear hats and if you don’t sweat heavily, then you’ll be fine.

ColorMark doesn’t contain any ammonia or peroxide and it’s very gentle on hair and scalp. In fact, it’s gentle enough for use by pregnant women (that said, you should double check with your doctor to be on the safe side).

Did I see any results? No one will know that you’ve applied ColorMark to hide your grey … I can assure you of that

Would I buy it? I wouldn’t dream of being without this product. There is no way I would travel without packing my ColorMark!

Would I replace my current colour? It’s really not replacing anything I had … I’m adding a whole new way of hiding greys.

>>>> Review submitted by product reviewer Eleni

Have you ever put yourself together exceptionally well – pretty makeup, healthy skin, hair, Spanx, killer outfit and felt that you looked pretty good…until giving one last toss of the hair in the mirror only to discover VERY noticeable grey roots? I know I have. Those greys were not there earlier in the day, I swear!!! – How does that happen?

ColorMark to the rescue! This amazing little product has saved me a couple of times already – I think it’s fantastic. Picture a small bottle of true temporary liquid hair color for touching up gray roots with a sponge tip applicator and a small round comb. That and the mirror are all you need for a minute or so and you’re done.

It’s not a mascara or crayon that will make your hair crunchy and brittle. It’s real colour and I’ll bet it comes in your colour too. I tried Light Brown and it did a fantastic job on my medium-brown fading locks. My hair looked fresh and pretty until my next shampoo. ColorMark’s 12 shades are formulated to blend with the best-selling permanent hair colors, so finding your best shade should be no problem.

Testing ColorMark:

The comb acts as a skin shield when applying ColorMark around the hairline, especially the temple area. Just slide the comb under the hair, as close to the scalp as possible, then apply the product with the sponge tip applicator. That’s it – gorgeous!

Did I see any results? It doesn’t get brittle or “crunchy” and washes out easily upon your next shampoo. This means that you need to watch out if it’s raining outside – use an umbrella or wear a hat because the colour can run.

Would I buy it? YES

Would I replace my current colour? I’ve added this to my home colour products just to keep my hair looking fine until the next color session.

A few weeks ago, P & G hosted an event at a swanky restaurant in the west-end of the city to introduce a few products. I got Eleni and Daphne to review the products, but I thought it might be fun to highlight some of the photos from ‘P & G’s champagne event’.

The evening of course included one of my favourite beverages – champagne! They were serving Veuve Clicquot and I much (MUCH) prefer Moet & Chandon, but I’m not one to turn my nose up at champagne.

I think the most important photos are the models’ hair. All of these models were prepped with Nice’n Easy Perfect 10 colour (and it was the first time they coloured their hair) and the stylists used the appropriate Pantene Expressions shampoo and conditioner. You’ll see yourself how glossy, shiny and sleek these women’s hair is … you don’t even have to touch it to know that it feels like silk.

Nice’n Easy Perfect 10 – the stylist for the event did a spectacular job with crystal beads, petals and gold dust:

Pantene Expressions display – I had to take this photo because I found the whole idea of the crystal beads against the glass top is so sleek:

The models – one brunette, one blonde and one redhead!

Eleni and Daphne reviewed the Clairol Perfect 10 hair colour because since I already have a chemical relaxed in my hair, permanent hair colour is a huge no-no for me. That said, according to the beauty reviewers, they think Clairol Perfect 10 by Nice’n Easy is the best hair colour on the face of the planet earth because it only takes 10 minutes.

Not long ago as we were all heading to a women’s show we were discussing why they liked the product so much and we were also highlighting the fact that busy moms who are time-starved must find this hair colour so practical to use.

You can read Eleni’s and Daphne’s review below:

1) Review submitted by our product reviewer Eleni

It is such a treat to try out a new product that actually delivers exactly what it says it will. YES – REALLY!!! I had perfectly glossy hair with full grey coverage at home in under 15 minutes.

Testing Clairol Perfect 10 Nice’n Easy Hair Colour:

The contents of the box are comparable to most home hair colour kits, but that’s where any similarity ends. The kit includes gloves, one tube of high gloss colour, a bottle of activating cream, a tube of ColorSeal Intensive Conditioning Créme conditioner, a special comb applicator and instructions.

The application process was simple and straightforward:

1) Combine the colour with the activating cream in the point tip bottle, shake and then apply from root to tip, completely saturating the hair using the no-drip comb applicator on virgin hair or just roots on previously coloured hair.

2) Allow the colour to sit on the hair for a full 10 minutes (or up to 15 minutes for stubborn gray like I have), then wet the hair, lather and rinse.

3) Apply the ColorSeal Intensive Conditioning Créme, allowing it to absorb for 2 minutes. Rinse well and style your hair as usual. The ColorSeal Intensive Conditioning Créme is to be used once a week for six weeks.

The shine was lovely and the fragrance pleasant. My hair stylist Anthony has been seeing me only for haircuts recently because I really love the results I get from this product and don’t need salon colour anymore.

Did I see any results? My hair was perfectly shiny and smooth. Even now – going on two weeks and my hair still has that freshly-coloured look and feel. I was even asked by a couple of friends at work about what colour I use. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for Medium Brown! The Perfect 10 shades are really rich and have an expensive-looking depth of colour that I have yet to experience with any other store bought brand.

Would I buy it? Yes, most certainly. For our Canadian readers, you can sometimes find discount coupons for this product at Coupons.ca.

Would I replace my current home colouring product? Yes – this is now my regular brand. I love the fact that I can quickly use it while having my morning coffee and getting ready for work!

OVERALL REVIEW:

2) Review submitted by our product reviewer Daphne

Ever since my favorite hair colour product was discontinued two years ago, I have been wandering the drug store aisles in search of a worthy replacement. No matter what I tried … home colouring kits or salon colourists … the search continued.

I happened to try Clairol Perfect 10 late in September and I was impressed with the results. My friend Sue even accused me of finding a secret stash of our discontinued brand. When asked to review Perfect 10 for Beauty Match, I couldn’t wait to see if brunette lightning could strike again … and it did, perfectly!

Testing Clairol Perfect 10 Medium Brown #5

I mixed the high gloss colour crème with the colour activating crème. The mixture was applied to my unwashed hair starting at the roots and working through the ends. I love that the kit has two applicators: one is the standard tip for roots and the other is a comb-like applicator (I prefer to use the comb applicator). The product felt very creamy and didn’t drip. Clairol Perfect 10 also has a very nice scent that I didn’t find irritating at all.

After 10 minutes, I rinsed my hair until the water was clear and applied a quarter-sized amount of the ColorSeal Intensive Conditioning Crème through my hair. I left this on for two minutes and then rinsed it out.

Your hair color shouldn’t be. Nice ‘n Easy gives you simple ways to look and feel your best.”

That is the new tag line for Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10 hair colour.

I had seen the product being advertised on the telly, but I was only able to get a deeper understanding during a recent product junket (event where manufacturers present their products).

Now, given the mishaps I experienced with my hair a few years ago and also because I already have a chemical treatment in my hair to straighten it, the only way I can get hair colour and still hold on to my hair is by seeing a professional hairdresser or colourist.

I would NEVER attempt to do permanent colour on my own when the day comes where semi-permanent colours just don’t hide enough greys.

In general, most hairdressers will tell you that a professional colour looks far better and is healthier than a homemade colour.

So you might be wondering where am I going with this, since I started talking about Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10. One of the cardinal sins of homemade colour is the fact that many women don’t follow the instructions carefully and sometimes they will leave the colour far too long. Not only is that a recipe for disaster, it’s also a sure-fire way to get that stringy-dried-out- texture that screams bad hair colour.

The twist with Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10 is the fact that the colour stays on your hair for only 10 minutes. The formulation is not as harsh as many drugstore-bought hair colour products and therefore it won’t fry out your hair like so many other consumer hair colour products. Although the Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10 stays only 10 minutes on your hair … it’s supposed to cover 100 per cent of your greys.

The product comes in 15 shades … from blond to dark brown. There are no shortage of retails outlets in the U.S. and in Canada that sell Nice ‘n Easy products, so it won’t be too complicated for you to find.

Before I forget, you’ll want to look at their 10 Reasons slide show that explains why you might want to opt for the Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10. It’s very sleek and sexy.

My favourite one is #9: “For you, grays are so 10 minutes ago”. You can read all ten here: Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10 — 10 Reasons .

A recent issue of the National Geographic reports there are less than two per cent of naturally redheads on the planet and it’s very possible that by 2060 redheads might be extinct.

Natural redhead celebrities like Angie Everhart (first natural redheaded supermodel), Julianne Moore, Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives), David Caruso (CSI: Miami) and Nicole Kidman are definitely part of a very small group.

The Australian Courier Mail picked up on the National Geographic’s findings and highlighted a number of great historical figures who were themselves redheads. The list includes Christopher Columbus, William Shakespeare, and Queen Elizabeth the First. Their list also included a few famous local Australian redheads: Michael Voss (Australian star football/soccer player) and Peter Beattie (current premier of Queensland).

The conclusion is quite obvious; most redheads (just like most blonds) are the product of very talented and gifted colourists! Naturally redheaded individuals might become extinct in less than a century, but the magic of hair colour will ensure that redheads live on forever.

Are you getting your hair coloured the same week you’re getting chemical peel treatment?

You might think that you lucked out in getting both appointments in the same week, but once you read this post you’ll be speed-dialling someone on your beauty glam team to switch your appointments around.

Cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons recommend that skin care rejuvenation treatments like microdermabrasions and chemical peels (basically, anything that will affect the upper layers of skin) should not be performed within five to ten days of any hair colouring treatment, perms, relaxers or soft curls (for darker-skin beauties).

So why can’t you book these types of cosmetic treatments so close to your chemical hair treatments?
It’s because your risk of redness or even burns to the sensitive new skin increase exponentially!

If you are getting a number of beauty-enhancing treatments in preparation for a major event or just because you want to look as young as you feel, you’ll have to time them all in order to avoid catastrophic results.

It might mean you might not get it all done on the same day or in the same week, but it will also mean that you’ll be playing it safe and you won’t irritate skin that has been in contact with hair colour a few days after getting a microdermabrasion treatment.

I was having a conversation with one of my best friends who now lives in London (England) about what had changed in our lives. The subject quickly turned to the few grey hairs she spotted while pulling her hair back to cleanse her face before going to bed.

While wrinkles may not be a major concern for either of us right now because of our skin types and ethnic background (she’s Chinese-Canadian), we both expressed the desire to colour our hair as more greys appeared until we got tired of colouring.

While growing up, I don’t remember seeing any stylish women sporting their grey hair. It’s only in my early twenties that I saw a friend of the family sporting her salt and pepper hair with a killer hair cut that I realized grey hair could be very stylish.

It’s more and more common today to spot a number of gorgeous Baby Boomers on Toronto’s Bloor Street sporting their stylish salt and pepper mane with much pride.
In fact, in many cases they have kept the length and broken away from the “short hair after a certain age” stereotypes.

It’s quite reassuring to see some incredible role models who are breaking new grounds when it comes to aging.
