I have recently found a really great book that celebrates women as they age. I was running through my local bookstore when I was stopped in my tracks by the black and white image of a sexy woman branding a sword over her head.
I immediately picked up the book and started flipping through the pages. I knew I would not have time to read the book before actually featuring it, but it seemed to be such an inspirational book that I thought I MUST highlighted.
Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits is the brainchild of Nancy Alspaugh and Marilyn Kentz who are the co-founders of the Fearless Aging movement, which encourages women to discard outdated views of getting older and celebrate who they are today.
Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits features 50 women ranging in age from their 40s to their 60s-including movie and television personalities, musicians, and Olympic athletes-are presented in stunning photographs holding a sword to symbolize their passionate and courageous approach to aging. Their stories are told alongside the pictures, capturing the experiences of the 38 million women of the Baby Boom generation who are challenging the age barrier and living the second half of their lives to the fullest.
The interesting thing is that this is not a new book, but it’s the first time I caught wind of it.
I have no doubt that our guest editor Bonnie Fatio would certainly approve of this book. If you want to read more about the views of a woman who believe in aging with pizzazz, you’ll want to catch her recent post:
