Fashion and style over 35!

“Lipstick Jungle” was the event that had me talking more and more about style on Beauty Match.
Until February, I focused on basic skincare, anti-aging skincare, medical spa treatment, fitness, emotional fitness and healthy eating as means to aging-well.
It’s not that I don’t care about fashion … Italy is my favourite country in the whole wide world because I cannot get enough of Italian fashion … it’s that I had not thought of including this segment originally.
Since I made a promise to my readers to watch weekly episodes of “Lipstick Jungle” and comment on them, it really hit me how much style has an impact on how a women ages. After all, two out of three of the main characters on Lipstick Jungle are in their 40s, Kim Raver (40) and Brooke Shield (42) - Lindsey Price is 31.
I’ve watched week after week how Kim and Brooke’s characters looked smashing because they not only had impeccable makeup and beautiful skin (thanks to a talented makeup artist), but also because the selection of clothing and accessories were perfect.
There were also a few other events that put style & fashion on the front page of Beauty Match — Oprah’s March 8 show, which was devoted to showing women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s how they should dress to always look their best. After that, Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2008 followed and then followed my review of a site that reveals how you can get your hands on the fabulous clothing that has been featured on your favorite TV shows –
SeenOn.com.
Alas, few of us have access to celebrity stylists, but there are so many little tricks that women over 35 can use to really look their best at all time.
I’ll use the latest trends and will try to give pointers that women over 35 can use to add a dash of attitude to their wardrobe. I’ll feature higher priced fashion selections, but I’ll also feature a number of great finds from stores that are offering designer styles at very reasonable prices.
I hope you’ll like this section and I hope you’ll leave us your comments to let us know when you agree or disagree with our selections.

Although I will be 35 this month, people think I’m 12. I’m 4ft 8in tall and weigh 195. Do you have any fashion advise for me? I should probably add that I am in a wheelchair.

Happy Birthday in advance Beth! You’ll see that 35 is a great age.
One think you want to make sure of when you look so much younger than your age is to ensure that you chose age appropriate clothing. Since you are petite, you need to make sure you shop in the petite section instead of the teenage section.
Now, in terms of your being in a wheelchair, you can bring a lot of focus to your face with colours, jewellery and scarves.
Another thing to keep in mind is your hair cut … make sure it doesn’t make you look too young. The same would apply to your eyeglasses if you wear any. If you got your glasses many years ago … it might be time for you to actually get a new updated pair.
