Our flat iron contest winner Robin reveals her sleek new look!
It’s always so great for me to share some of the great products I’m exposed to with my readers and My Hair Styling Tools is giving me another chance to say thank you to one of my readers!
Not only will you find the Karmin Titanium Hair Straightening Iron at a significant discount on the My Hair Styling Tools Web site (they sell the Karmin for $99 instead of $265), but also some of the top brands on the market.

Entry from Palo
Palo, I’m moving your entry here because you left your comment in the wrong spot:
Palo
It all started when i was asked out on a date by this guy that i adored. So Im getting ready and I blew dry my hair straight. When he came to pick me up, I thought i looked pretty good. So i have no clue where he’s taking me. He had a nice evening planned out and we were going for a dinner cruise, as soon as i heard that i thougth to myself “oh no”.
so we go for dinner it was beautiful and we went outside to enjoy the beautiful view…by the time we came back in I looked like a frizzed out poodle. And needless to say I never heard from him again.

I’m sorry. This is a long, horror story!
Last year, after my wedding, I decided to transition and grow out my relaxer. This was a very hard and trying decision. My husband (who is in the Navy) was out to sea a lot so I could experiment with braids, wigs, etc. to grow out my natural hair without chopping off all of my hair immediately. My husband absolutely loves my hair long and hates any type of fake hair so I would ditch the wigs, blow out and flat iron my kinks whenever he came home.
Last year in October, my husband was due to return home on a Friday after being out to sea for two months. I had been planning all week what I would wear and made a hair appointment. I received an “Emergency” call on Wednesday morning from one of the navy wives that our husbands were actually coming in a day earlier. I panicked and called the hairdresser. She was out sick and the other (very rude) girl was too busy. I ran to Sally’s and bought a bunch of products to tame my wild mane and darted home. The sales lady in Sally’s convinced me to buy the GVP version of Sebastian’s WET. She said it would make my crazy semi-fro spring into beautiful curls. I tried it and let it airdry and came out with a hard as a helmet semi-fro. I had to wash it again, blow it out & proceeded to flat iron it. My GVP bottle of Chi Silk Infusion looks exactly like my bottle of toner and in my haste I put toner in my hair by mistake. I tried to dry it out without re-washing and proceeded to flat iron again. I heard a sizzle, crack and smelled smoke. I burnt off a entire bottom section of my hair. I started crying and freaking out. Desperate, I jumped into the car and ran to the Supercuts down the street. The stylist there was a life saver and chopped off the rest of my hair into a bob. Cutting my hair was the one thing I had been trying to avoid. I was really nervous because I had never had short hair in my life.
My husband actually did not come home until Thursday afternoon. He kissed me, touched my hair and said nonchalantly, “short hair suits you”.
Now, I am completely natural and growing out my bob. This is a great giveaway and I am dying to win this flat iron!

It started nicely in the morning when I had my makeup on and everything. Coming down the hill toward my office building and the wind just picked up off the water and screwed me over. I have shoulder-length hair. The end got caught in the bag’s handle I was wearing and it hurt when I tried to fix the messy hair caused by the wind. Then the bag dropped on the dirty ground. So messed up

My hair is just above shoulder length and I’ve been told I have a nice wave to it. However, after all the years of processing, it is somewhat dry, frizzy and aged. One of my good friends was getting married and I wanted to do something special with my hair and had another friend put “twisties” throughout my head and slept on it overnight. I’d done this before and never had any issues. When I took the twisties out the following morning, I couldn’t believe what my mane looked like!!! I looked like a Diana Ross, a few years back when she had long hair, and I was sporting a full fro … YIKES!!!!! Because we had to be at the bride’s house early, I didn’t have time to rewash. My friend proceeded to flat iron it which somewhat helped tone it down and actually saved the day. Five years later, I still get that story thrown in my face. Seeing was actually believing!

My hair has always been very nappy & frizzy, so much so that you could be even comb it out. I trying everything in site to tame it, & then we heard about the miracle relaxers. I was about 12 or 13, & I had a relaxer put on my hair. It worked great, too great, the lady doing my hair started yakking on the phone & forgot all about me. All the hair on top of my head fell out, & I even wound up with some chemical burns. I wore a bandana to school for months til’ it grew out.

It is funny because me and my SO were just talking about this bad hair day on Tuesday LOL. It has to do with my high school graduation! I went with my Mom and Grandma (which was my first mistake) to a salon to get my hair done. My mom and Gma were like make her hair culry! So that is what the lady did. I came out looking like a poodle and worst yet I had to have my pictures taken like this. I had no time to get rid of the ugly doo so I walked across the stage to get my diploma with a head of nasty curly hair. And I am not talking pretty curls this was like I had an electric shock or something. It was so horrible and even though it has been a few years I still rememeber it like it was yesterday!!!

Wow, almost forgot this contest too, for the flat iron! I am very excited to see that this isnt just any flat iron, but one of the top of the line flat irons, and ones that great salons use too! Anyone would love this, but I know I would since my daughters took over my old one, which cost a pretty penny, but didnt seem to last that long. If I won this flat iron, I wouldn’t actually minding sharing it with my daughters too, and we all have curly hair, but my daughters have more coarse, african american hair, a so they need to be more careful with theyre hair, and think this would make theyre hair, and mine, look more beautiful!
Thanks Krizia, such great giveaways this month!
Yeahh!

When I was in the 7th grade, in middle school, I owned a sucky Chi straightener. Well, it was the last day of school and we were receiving awards for good stuff we did that year. I had spent 2 hours in the morning straightening it that day and before we went to the gym to get our awards I looked in the bathroom mirror and my hair looked like an afro! When I stepped off the bleachers onto the stage to get my award my shoelace got stuck underneath the shoe of this guy I was crushing on. I tripped and fell flat on my face as I was trying to get on stage. Everybody started laughing at me and they called me “Frizzy Trip”. It was so horrible. That guy never talked to me again after that. I wish I wouldve had a more expensive, better working straightener, like the KARMIN back then. It would have saved the day!
I just really hope I win this straightener because my Chi broke after less than a year of use. My dog got her foot wrapped around it one day and the cord broke! I was so mad!

My worst hair day experience.
My friends and I decided to spend a weekend in the summer in Laguna Beach, CA. We got this beautiful resort on the beach, and got all dressed up to go out one night. Girls in one room, guys in another.
We spent like 3-4 hours just doing our hair, make-up, and putting on cute clothes and mix-and-matching. I, of course, hating my curly hair, spent the entire time straightening. But when the time came that the guys were waiting for us outside the door, with ONE STEP OUT, my hair COMPLETELY frizzed. (shucks, beach humidity!!) It was sooo embarrassing.. All that effort for NOTHING. my hair seriously got POOFY and LARGE. i wanted to die, because all my other firends looked so gorgeous. and i just liked like afroman.

Wow, just randomly stumbled upon this website. Great!
Hm… well, all my life, i’ve had wavy hair. no, not the cute little locks. the gross-looking waves!! so everyday is basically a bad hair day for me. this is me: i wake up two hours before i have to go out, and spend about an hour straightening my hair. EVERYDAY. with my cheapo conair straightener… yes. it sucks. and i think its bad for the hair too.. my hair is starting to really fall out and so many split ends. and it’s so coarse!!!
i could really use this…
