A vitamin-C gel is gentler to sensitive skins than a vitamin-C serum

Vitamin-C products in the form of L-ascorbic acid are a great way to protect your skin against the harmful side effects of sun exposure and the ravages of the free radical damage. As a general rule of thumb, the potency and penetration of a serum will always trump that of any other form of other skin care product. That said, if you have sensitive skin, a serum might be too strong and you might need a gentler formulation of vitamin C. A gel is an excellent alternative that will gently protect your skin (as long as the gel does not contain AHAs or BHAs — alpha or beta hydroxy acids). Young Pharmaceuticals uses a formulation process that enables the vitamin C L-ascorbic acid to be more tolerated by more sensitive skin types.

I had originally started using the C-Mollient Antioxidant Serum from Young Pharmaceuticals, but I felt my skin needed more moisture. The switch to the C-Mollient Antioxidant Gel offered me the protection I was looking for without the associated dryness.

Young Pharmaceutical’s C-Mollient Antioxidant Gel is excellent for sensitive skin types:

Consistency: It’s a clear gel.

Sensation: It feels more like a light silky veil than a gel. The texture is very smooth and very rich and dissipates in a relatively short time.

Results: The gel is very effective without drying my skin.

Odour check: This gel is fairly odourless.

Frequency of use: I’ve used it a few times per week during the winter and more often during the summer months. The manufacturer recommends using C-Mollient Gel three times per week. It’s best to use the C-Mollient Antioxidant Gel as a night treatment for collagen building and free radical scavenging. For best results, you might want to follow the Young Pharmaceutical 7-day formula where you alternate the vitamin-C Gel with a low strength retinol for 6 days, followed on the seventh day with a light at-home peel, exfoliation scrub or even microdermabrasion. If you have sensitive skin it will take you some time to be able to tolerate retinoids with any amount of frequency. Your doctor will go over the details of this protocol when you request a consultation or make your purchase.

Cost: The C-Mollient Antioxidant Gel is exclusively sold at offices of plastic surgeons, cosmetic dermatologists, physicians or medical spa clinics. The suggested retail price for 30g C-Mollient Antioxidant Gel or 30 ml Serum bottle is only supplied after a proper request for information is made to the Canadian distributor.

Retailers: The C-Mollient Antioxidant Gel is distributed in Canada by Young Pharmaceuticals. To learn about the suggested retail price for C-Mollient Antioxidant Gel 30 g pump bottle, please contact Lamont Daigle at the Canadian offices of Young Pharmaceutical. You can also contact him via email at l.daigle (@) youngpharm.com to locate the distributor in your area.
