The Botox® diet?

Here’s a diet that is surely to cause a lot of controversy. There is a prevailing belief in America where a number of people think that injecting Botox into the stomach muscles may become the next get-thin-quick solution because it is believed that Botox may suppress your appetite.
The biological explanation is somewhat weird and scary at the same time: because the stomach empties by a wave of muscle contractions, the logic here would be that if your muscles are relaxed and don’t contract, food will remain in the stomach longer and you’ll feel fuller … therefore you won’t eat as much during the day.

You think it’s Botox®, but it’s not!

Photo from Dr. Rothenberg’s Web site
This is certainly not the first time this happens, but there is another very public story about a respected and well-known doctor who is accused of injecting patients with a substance that was presented as Botox, but in reality it was not the formulation of Botox approved by the FDA (American Food and Drugs Administration).
Dr. Gayle Rothenberg from Houston, Tex. is accused of allegedly telling patients she was injecting them with Botox Cosmetic, having them sign consent forms identifying Botox, and then injecting them with an unapproved generic product that was advertised to the doctor and her husband at a medical seminar.

Men have to pay more for Botox® than women!

We might pay way more for haircuts and basic skin care products than men, but the tables are turning and when it comes to Botox rejuvenation treatments … men are dishing out more for their rejuvenation treatments than women.
It’s true that Botox injections are still more popular among women than men, but more and more men are now getting in on the action because they either want to minimize the appearance of aging on their face or because they work in an environment/industry where they have to appear as youthful as possible.
