The Toronto International Film Festival might be over and major celebrities hiding behind their shades might not traipsing through the city streets but that’s no reason to give up wearing sunglasses. It’s an obvious association for most of us: when the days get longer and sunnier, we automatically start adorning our favourite designer shades. But, since the danger associated with UV exposure affects us year-round, it’s important to continue wearing your shades during the autumn and winter seasons.

Christie Brinkley is redefining the Cover Girl look in her fifties!
If you are over 35, then you surely remember Christie Brinkley’s Cover Girl ads that dominated the magazines pages and billboards for most of the eighties. This California blond was the hottest model during those years and to prove it; she’s one of the rare supermodels to boast three consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuits Issue covers to her name.
Today, Christie Brinkley (born Christie Lee Hudson in 1954) is part of an inspiring group of models who are over 35 and still working for big cosmetic companies or major designers. She’s still today representing Cover Girl’s Mature skincare line of cosmetics.

Are tattoos still sexy as you age?

So it really seemed like a sexy and edgy idea at the time: you were 21 and wanted to affirm yourself and your own sense of freedom. It could also have been a recent episode of TLC’s Miami Ink or L.A. Ink that motivated you to adorn your body with art, but now you’re in your mid 30s, 40s, 50s or 60s and you’re not finding that tattoo as sexy as you once did. You might now be wondering how permanent that ink was after all. Well you’re not alone, it’s estimated that a whopping 50 per cent of people who get a tattoo later regret it (sounds just like marriage statistics).
Well, in this new world of cosmetic enhancement and surgery, everything is possible. As long as you keep in mind that getting a tattoo will be less expensive (and sometimes less painful) than removing one, then options abound.
Black ink tattoos will be much easier to remove than bright coloured tattoos. The same goes for tattoos located on a bony area like your ankle or finger because chances are you’ll tend to scar more than tattoos located in fleshy areas of your body.
Medical procedures to remove a tattoo:
Laser Surgery: If you’ve never had any laser surgery done, then you’ll quickly find out that it might be a bit uncomfortable. You’ll also need at least 12 sessions before getting the types of results you’re looking for. If you are particularly sensitive to pain, you might want to consider a topical numbing cream to make it more bearable.
Dermabrasion: In the simplest of terms, this is a process that “sands” your tattoo away. By getting rid of the uppermost layer of your skin where you have the tattoo, your skin heals itself and produces a new layer.

Surgical excision: Your once beloved tattoo is removed with a scalpel and then stitched up to heal.
Cryosurgery: During this ice-cold surgery, the area of the tattoo is frozen on the skin before being removed.
Chemical Peel: Chemical acid is applied to the skin over several weeks until the tattoo fades away.
Just like wrinkles and frown lines these days, a trip to your dermatologist or cosmetic rejuvenation doctor can help you get the look that you want … at any age.

Protect and rebuild your damaged hair with a leave-in conditioner

It’s really no secret that I’m a huge believer in Ojon™ hair care products. I’m a diehard fan of their Restorative Hair Treatment, so I was quite excited to find out about their leave-in conditioner. If you have coarse, dry, chemically treated hair or colour treated hair, a leave-in can really re-hydrate and help boost the strength of your hair. That said, a lot of leave-in conditioners leave your hair weighed down and devoid of bounce. Ojon Revitalizing Mist alcohol-free “shake to activate” formula re-hydrates, restructures and smoothes away tangles with one simple movement and it won’t weight down your mane. This mist will not only revitalize your hair, it will reduce breakage, reduce frizz, help hold the colour longer and help your styling products to adhere more easily.

Can soda drinks age your teeth?

Because of my teenage acne, my dermatologist at the time truly believed that I had to go on a severe diet because the food I was eating (in her opinion) was causing my acne (forget about the fact that I was 12-14 and that my hormones were raging). One of the items she cut off the list was soft drinks. And since the age of 12, I’ve very rarely even had a sip of a soft drink.
Because soft drinks are not part of my diet, it never even occurred to me that soda drinks could actually accelerate the rate at which your teeth deteriorate and age until I read an article about the matter.
