When it comes to your face, the best lymph treatment is a peel and a facial massage.
Purging your skin and keeping pores clean is another part of keeping the skin young looking. Clean pores absorb moisture and oxygen better and will provide you with more supple looking skin.
The most common anti-aging purge is to do a monthly peel. It is so popular that there are an array of types and concentrations that may suit your specific goals. That said, stronger concentrations of peels can only be used under the supervision of a professional. Your cosmetic doctor will determine which concentration best suits your anti-aging needs.
Although peels are effective, they can be a bit aggressive to the skin and may cause inflammation of the skin. Peels will also leave your skin vulnerable to UV rays. Your conventional or medical spa professional will surely recommend you moisturize, moisturize, moisturize after each peel. UV protection should really be a given, but if you are thinking of peels as a lymph drainage solution, you’ll absolutely need to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Peeling gives great immediate results, but without proper post-treatment care it can be counter-beneficial.
Using facial massages as a solution for lymph drainage is a much simpler process, because it’s only a matter of booking a well-deserved facial at your favourite spa. If you have acne-prone skin, you might want to check with your beauty expert. In some cases, facial massages tend to increase the sebum activity in your skin and may cause you to break out.

Your naturopathic doctor can help with overall lymphatic drainage
Lymph is as important as blood or oxygen in your body!
In simple terms, lymph is blood plasma after it has carried its nutrients into the body’s tissues, dropped them off for the cells, picked up our metabolic wastes, and re-entered our water reclamation plant, which is the lymph system. Once it has passed through a series of channels, where it is filtered and detoxified, the lymph empties back into the heart where it once again becomes blood plasma.
This explanation is quite rudimentary and the best way to truly get a better understanding of lymph in order to properly take care of it is to make an appointment with a naturopathic doctor. Your naturopathic doctor will help you find ways of keeping the lymph system active, detoxified and healthy.
If you don’t already have a naturopathic doctor, you can contact the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors to find one that’s closest to you.
Purging toxins is an important part of your aging regime
I remember the first time I heard of the lymph and the importance of lymphatic drainage, and how difficult it was for me to avoid associating the lymph with an organ. I understood the importance of cleansing an organ like the liver, but if the lymph was not an organ, how could you cleanse it?
The lymph is the plasma-like fluid that maintains the body’s fluid balance and removes bacteria. Conventional massage, lymph drainage massage, swimming, rebounding (mini trampoline), sauna/steam rooms have been common ways of cleansing your overall lymph. It’s been reported that overall lymph drainage helps alleviate inflammation and cellular toxins.

Did you miss Dove’s pro•age campaign?

February 5, 2007 might have been an ordinary day for most of us, but not for Unilever, the producers of Dove. On that day, they knew they were about to launch a campaign that would make the world take notice.
I watched the unfolding of a monumental campaign with great attention and six months later I wanted to revisit it. I’ve mentioned this campaign to a number of people and I’m surprised at the number of people who missed it.
The real interest for me in Dove’s launch is not so much about the product line, but rather the essence behind the promotion. When a big brand like Dove decides to go on a massive search for women aged 50+ (aka models) to feature in their major international launch, it makes you stop and listen because this doesn’t happen everyday.

Jurlique’s Eye Gel

I’ll put it out there for the world to know: I absolutely LOVE (I mean L-O-V-E) the entire Jurlique line of cosmetic products. I started using Jurlique in 1999 because I was having a hard time of it when it came to finding a moisturizer that didn’t cause any irritations, allergies or breakouts. Meredith was my consultant at my local natural health shop and she was always on the look-out for new products that I could use. One day, I walked in and she declared that she had found the ideal line for my skin. Was she ever right!
Jurlique is produced and manufactured in Australia and uses natural antioxidants, natural vitamins and herbal ingredients.
