Canada has one of the most phenomenal natural sceneries in the world. The land is plentiful and the vegetation is lush and green. No wonder our men love outdoors sports. Hitting the Canadian outback to practice golf, tennis, skiing, hiking, camping, fishing or running is an excellent way to age well. That said, outdoors sports combined with unprotected facial skin might be detrimental. Active men are far more susceptible to premature aging than their inactive counterparts because they spend so much time outdoors.
There is no need for our men to change their healthy habits. They simply might want to include a few key products to their daily skin care.
Moisturizer and SFP protection might not decrease existing fine lines and wrinkles, but the duo will help prevent more premature damage. By combining an anti-aging night treatment or regular visits at the cosmetic dermatologist, active Canadian men can keep on practicing their favourite sports while keeping their skin protected and in great condition.

A facial that targets the lymphatic drainage
Facial lymphatic drainage is so good for the skin that it will give the illusion of a 24-48 hour “face lift”. Lymph drainage hydrates the skin and removes local toxins, softens wrinkles, rejuvenates the skin, and helps to heal acne.
DuFage Spa in Toronto is one of the many spas in Canada that offers a facial that also includes lymphatic drainage. To understand how the Miracle Facial (with lymphatic drainage) can be integrated as part of your beauty regime, I met with aesthetician and owner Helen Duffey.
DuFage’s Miracle Facial is really like having four different facials in one session. This facial consists of a microdermabrasion treatment, a non-surgical face lift treatment, lymphatic drainage massage to the face and neck with a vacuum suction glass sculpture (called a ventouse), followed by a firming mask that tightens the skin. A series of Miracle Facials will help in diminishing fine lines, wrinkles, reduce puffiness and see the skin’s firmness dramatically improved — even after the first facial!
A 90-minute duFage Miracle Facial retails for $120. You can purchase a series of five treatments for $480.
Martina Navratilova – your personal trainer is only a few pages away
In her 2005 book “Shape Your Self : My 6-Step Diet and Fitness Plan for Achieving Your Personal Best” Martina Navratilova creates an achievable regime for beginners and more advanced readers. This is not a get-fit-quick book. These are exercises that will transform you into a lean and fit body. Martina also shares her views on adopting a healthy and balanced diet.
January’s short-lived resolutions may be long gone, but it’s not too late to change your physical condition and health….even if it’s already August!
Beauty Quote by Martina Navratilova
“I’m not ashamed to admit it: I do feel young at 49.” – Martina Navratilova (born in 1956)
Martina Navratilova – still winning tournaments at 51!

Martina has broken many records during her illustrious tennis career. At 51, Martina (born in 1956) is still winning doubles and playing at major tournaments (she won Australian Open Mixed Doubles title in 2003 (at 47!), the only Grand Slam title that had eluded her during her career, and became the oldest player ever to win a Grand Slam event and only the second player ever to have won all grand slam titles – source: Martina’s Web site). Martina has truly showed the world that women can play as hard and as competitively as any man.

A skin care line with high levels of Kinetin

Kinerase started out as a true superstar line. Kinerase was created in 1999 as a doctor’s office, but you can find this line favoured by many Hollywood A-listers at Sephora Canada.
Kinerase’s Under Eye Rescue is one of the top sellers at Sephora. Like all products under the Kinerase brand, the Eye Rescue contains high levels of Kinetin (link to May post: So what’s in your wrinkle cream?).
With continuous use, Kinerase’s Under Eye Rescue improves fine lines and lessens wrinkles around the delicate eye area. You’ll also notice improvement with under-eye puffiness.

Kirstie Alley – at 55…she’s good enough!
Kirstie Alley’s fight to regain a healthier weight has been well-documented via the Jenny Craig commercials and Oprah’s show. I’ve not chosen Kirstie because of the fact she lost over 75 lbs in 24 months. I’ve selected her because of how this weight-loss journey has transformed her. Kirstie revealed to Oprah that she never felt she looked all that beautiful during her skinny thirties because she never felt “she was good enough”.
To appear on international television in a bathing suit is extremely bold and courageous. Most of us would certainly think twice before attempting such a stunt. It took all this for Kirstie Alley (born in 1952) to feel like “she was good enough”…just the way she was.
