Rejuvenate your entire body & soul

I always like to describe this province as: Mother Nature at her best. B.C. is glorious, natural and ever so beautiful…they don’t call it “Beautiful B.C.” for nothing! Escaping to this western province for a little “pick-me-up vacation” will leave you feeling like you might just have found a little corner of paradise right here in Canada.

Luckily, paradise has a specific address in B.C. and it’s called the Galiano Island Oceanfront Inn and Spa (which houses the luxurious Madrona del Mar Spa) located on the Galiano Island (hence the name).

Galiano Island Oceanfront Inn and Spa is a vacation that will touch your soul and transform you into a more relaxed “you”.

Could your emotional state affect your skin or your hair?

Earlier this year, MSNBC featured a story on this emerging medical trend. According to a new medical discipline called: psychodermatology (which focuses on the boundary between psychiatry and dermatology), stress might be sabotaging your skin and hair from being at their best.

It’s no longer a secret that stress is the cause of a growing number of illnesses. Dermatologists are now embracing the idea that stress might be the cause behind your sudden case of bad adult acne or recent rash flare up. When you walk in a dermatologist’s or doctor’s office and complain about a sudden hair loss, he or she will be inclined to ask you questions about your lifestyle to rule out the possibility of severely high stress levels before moving on to another type of diagnostic.

If you’ve been spending an insane amount of money on skin care or hair care products to fix or improve upon your skin or hair woes, it may be time to do a vital stress-check.

In our modern-high-tech world, it’s almost impossible to avoid stress, but there are ways of dealing with it to improve the quality of your life and the quality of your skin. When stress is getting to insupportable levels, it might be time for you to take relaxation very seriously and even take some time away from it all to get back to a more centred ‘you’.

Topical vitamin C serums protect your skin during the summer months

A topical vitamin C product containing a concentration of at least 10% L-Ascorbic acid should be part of your anti-aging regime because vitamin C has a definite impact on the protection and rejuvenation of your skin.

Vitamin C in the form L-Ascorbic acid will protect your skin against the harmful side effects of sun exposure. Topical vitamin C will also neutralize free radicals that can harm cell membranes and other components of skin tissue. Topical vitamin C may protect your skin against sun damage, but it will not block it from UVA and UVB rays. You’ll still need to apply a SPF product as a sunscreen.

Vitamin C is known as a powerful antioxidant. In fact, it’s the only antioxidant that has been proven to increase collagen production.

Doesn’t sun tanning provide vitamin D?

Some people worry about vitamin D deficiency when using sunless-tanning products and staying out of the direct sunlight in an effort to protect their skin against the harmful rays of the sun. The scoop is the average person doesn’t need to be out in the sun that long to naturally get the recommended vitamin D amount. Depending upon genetics, skin colouring, region and climate, for example, one needs between five to 15 minutes of sun exposure daily around the middle of the day, three or four times during the week.
