Dr. Nicolas Perricone (often seen on Oprah as the anti-aging expert) is notorious for denouncing a female mishap – that too many women don’t eat sufficient amounts of protein. Even if you’re vegetarian or vegan, you should eat protein every single day. Dr. Perricone is notorious for saying that every day you skip out on your protein intake, you age just a little faster.
Why is protein an important part of your anti-aging regime?
Protein is essential in building bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. Our metabolism slows down as we age because of decreasing muscle mass (unless you do weight- and cardio-training).

Are your thoughts aging you?

If you are living a life you don’t like or desire, there aren’t enough powerful lotions, potions and treatments to help you age well.
When your life is weighing you down and you’re wearing your stress as often as you are a winter coat, you are putting yourself in a situation that demands more than the help of a trained cosmetic dermatologist.
Teri Rose is a Life Coach and an expert in the “laws of attraction”.
She’ll help us understand how our thoughts can be the most important contributing factors in accelerating our aging process.

Hollywood is using cellulite cream to give the illusion of weight loss to the face.
I’ll definitely need to start asking the many beauty professionals I speak to about this new Hollywood fad. It seems that many star beauty consultants have taken to using cellulite cream on their high-profile clients faces and jaw lines to give the illusion that a starlet has dropped 10 pounds overnight (just in time for a big event). Cellulite cream works on the principle that it sucks water from your skin immediately…this effect provides a tighter look. Call me crazy, but I have my reservations on this one…should a cream created for your thighs, legs and buttock be applied to your face?
Red wine as an anti-aging serum?

It seems Teri Hatcher believes so! It’s been reported that the 43-year-old star keeps her skin soft and supple by adding one cup of red wine to her bath water. I can already hear the uproar of protest among our wine aficionado readers. I’ve not yet been able to confirm if this actually a family anti-aging beauty secret or if red wine is in fact effective. I’m still asking around to find out if Canadian liquor boards will soon seen a huge spike in the sales of their red wines…stay tuned!
It’s also been reported that she uses Hydroderm collagen serum (only available in the U.S.) on her face to wipe away wrinkles.
Beta hydroxy acids are excellent for adult acne
Because beta hydroxy acids are oil (lipid) soluble, they are better at penetrating into the pores which contain sebum and exfoliating the dead skin cells that are built up inside the pores. If you are dealing with oily skin and/or adult acne (with blackheads and whiteheads), this might be an option to consider, rather than alpha hydroxy.
Nicollette Sheridan is sizzling
I really cannot say that I’m a fan of “Desperate Housewives”. I did watch a few episodes because it was the hit show of 2005, but I never was able to be seduced. The few episodes I did see allowed me to observe how well Nicollette Sheridan is looking in her forties. The British-born blond (in 1963) has been seen in many episodes wearing short-shorts and tight-fitting tank tops that reveal a great form. Rumour has it that Nicollette might have had a breast augmentation and she might have resorted to injectable fillers. Whether or not this is true, she’s in her forties and en fuego (on fire)!

Hydroxy Acids
If you’re looking to remove the upper layer of old, dead skin and stimulate the growth of smooth, evenly pigmented new skin, you’ll want to consider synthetic versions of acids derived from sugar-containing fruits. The acids are more commonly known on the market as alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids and poly hydroxy acids. They are marketed as exfoliants that can improve the look of deeper lines and wrinkles while increasing skin hydration. In reality, these acids stimulate collagen production. Clinically, collagen is a protein that thickens skin and prevents water loss. Hydroxy acids can lead to some improvements in fine lines and wrinkles, but their use comes at a price.

Retinol, aka Vitamin A
If you don’t know all the terms of the anti-aging industry, chances are you do know of retinol because you’ve been hearing about it for a while now. That’s because retinol (an animal derivative of vitamin A) is the first antioxidant to be widely used in over-the-counter wrinkle creams. Retinol is not as powerful as tretinoin or retinoid acids (other more-effective vitamin A derivatives at fighting signs of aging) at preventing the breakdown of skin cells and wrinkles.
