Did you know? The smoke and the tar found in cigarettes take away the nutrients and oxygen that are needed for your skin to remain healthy. This includes weakening the collagen and fibres that are needed for healthy skin. These fibres are what give your skin strength and flexibility. Smoking strips the collagen and fibres from your skin and replaces them with the chemicals and toxins (all 4000 of them) that are found in cigarettes. Smoking also causes the blood vessels in your skin to slow down. This takes away essential nutrients that the skin needs in order to remain healthy, such as vitamin A and vitamin C.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

I first discovered SK-II in 2005. I read “Memoirs of a Geisha” that year and fell completely in love with the story. While flipping through a magazine while in the midst of reading the book, I saw the picture of this Japanese actress who was cast in the film for an SK-II ad. I had never heard of Kaori Momoi before (I had not seen the movie at that time), but the fact that the ad mentioned “Memoirs of a Geisha”, it kept me reading. What really caught my eye was her age (which was published in the ad) and the fact that she looked 34…not 52 (at the time). I decided I need find this SK-II product. A quick search revealed that the product was only sold in the United States at the time. Then last year in the summer (2006), Holt Renfrew sent me an email letting me know they were introducing SK-II in Canada. I read the email, grabbed my purse and headed straight to the store.

You don’t have to age like your grandparents or parents!

I absolutely adored my grandmother, who acted more like my mother because she lived with me while I was growing up and took care of me more like a mother than a grandmother. My first memories of her would place her in her 60s. She was a tiny little woman with a big smile who spent half her days cooking something on the stove, just in case a friend stopped by (this would explain my need to constantly feed people).
I still remember how my grandmother would do a few minutes of what she considered body conditioning because her doctor insisted that she add some type of physical activity in her life.

Angela Bassett Hot and Fit at 49!

Angela Bassett (who in my opinion should have won for best actress when she portrayed one of the most resilient women in show business – Ms. Tina Turner in the incredible movie “What’s Love Got to Do with It”!). Angela turns 49 this year and by the look of those well-sculptured arms, she can out-curl (as in arm curl) any 23 year old! It’s obvious that she chooses weight training to maintain her form as she ages. Adopting twins and becoming a mother in her mid-forties has surely not stopped Angela from feeling and looking amazing. In a recent interview, Angela expressed her gratitude at the fact that North American men (and women) are finally catching up to what Europeans have known for decades – women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond are fabulous!

Moisturize your skin to combat pre-mature aging
![]()
Did you know that at age 40 a woman’s skin can show as much as 40 per cent more winkles than a man? By age 60, that number jumps to 75 per cent. Ladies, this is NOT good news! The reason is simple: a woman’s skin is thinner than a man’s by almost 33 per cent! (Source: syence.com). This is one of the realities that was exposed to me by Wendy Thomas, North American product educator for Syence Skin Care.
Wrinkles are in parts due to the loss of moisture and thinning of the skin and one of the best ways to prevent premature aging it to maintain moisture in your skin as much as possible. Syence Servital Active Tissue Defence is a serum designed to strengthen the skin by moisturizing and nourishing the skin. This cosmeceutical formula has been scientifically tested in the U.K. by the Tissue Viability Unit at Guy’s Hospital, Nuffield House, in London.

Christy Turlington is 38 and still flawless
During my teen years, I bought many copies of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue to see what my idols of the time were wearing. I needed to know how they styled their hair and which were the latest make-up colours they favoured. They might have been in my age group, but the first officially baptized group of Super Models was a world apart from mine.
From Naomi to Cindy, these ladies have moved from their teens into their twenties into their thirties and in some case, into their forties, but they still all look as dazzling as they did when they graced the catwalks of Milan.
