Queens-based beautician Patricia Villegas, president of Altiva New York Temple of Beauty and Renewal, was arrested in New York in March 2007 after two women in their 20s accused the beautician of giving them disfiguring cosmetic injections. It is alleged that Villegas did not have a license to administer injections of Restylane®, collagen or cortisone. The patients who reported her allege that they were so disfigured by a severe infection that they had to undergo reconstructive surgery.

Jason’s New Cell Therapy 12 ½ Plus Alpha Hydroxy Acids

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (aka hydroxy Acids) are marketed as exfoliants that can improve the look of deeper lines and wrinkles while increasing skin hydration. In reality, these acids stimulate collagen production. Collagen production = a younger, plumper looking skin. In fact, alpha hydroxy acids are so effective they’ve been used for centuries for skin rejuvenation. As a home treatment, you can only purchase alpha hydroxy acids with lower concentrations. Higher concentrations (20 per cent to 30 per cent) can only be used by trained cosmetologists or medical nurses.

Obesity ages you more than smoking!

You know that 10-, 20- or 30-year high school reunion no one really wants to attend? Imagine walking into your high school reunion and looking almost a decade older than other people your age? No, it’s not a terrible dream…it’s reality! Researchers have found that if you are overweight, your aging process is greatly accelerated.
I’ve been holding on to this study I found a few years ago because the facts were so shocking to me. An April 2005 research conducted by St Thomas’ Hospital in London revealed that being overweight can age you even more rapidly than a lifetime of heavy smoking. WOW! Can you imagine?

Knowing a little more about juicing
You might want to know more about juicing because you might want to change a few things in your aging-well regime. I turned to excellent books on juicing before I attempted to do my first juice fast. Since that fast, I’ve incorporated juicing every morning. Along with an appointment with your naturopathic doctor, the following books might give you some great pointers on the basics of juicing.
The Juicing Bible and Juicing For Life
.
If you are serious about juicing, you’ll definitely want to start adding juicing slowly into your life. But most importantly, you’ll want to consult with your doctor to make sure you are adopting the right approach for your needs.
10 fruits and vegetables per day for optimal health, really?

You hear constantly: Canadians and Americans need to eat more fruits and vegetables; teens are eating less fruits and vegetables than at any other time in history; heart disease is at its highest levels, etc…
Why do you really need all those fruits anyway? Fruits and veggies are plentiful sources of vitamins and minerals (and water), but, more importantly, they are phytonutrient powerhouses. Phytonutrient rich foods offer essential antioxidant and detoxifying benefits to you. Because your body can easily digest fruits and veggies, you’re better able to assimilate those vitamins and minerals. The easier you are able to assimilate those vitamins and minerals, the quicker they will benefit your skin and add a boost to your anti-aging skincare regime.

German secret to smoother-looking skin.

After reading about the cosmetic benefits of silica in 1997, I wanted to ensure that I included silica capsules to my diet. In 2000, I started buying a German-produced silica base gel because I read an article that explained why a gel or liquid option to any supplement would be more easily absorbed by my body and the results would be that much better.
In 2002 I was flipping through the pages of a natural health magazine when I saw an ad for the silica gel I has been using for two years. The company had featured a long time user of their product. This woman was 65 and she had been using Hübner’s Silicea gel (colloidal silica gel) for 25 years. She was beaming about the fact that she was in her mid-sixties and she didn’t have one single wrinkle on her face.

Anti-aging products that are good for the environment
Back in November 2006, the news coming out of Europe indicated that the French were once again trend-setters when it came to choosing anti-aging lines that sent a social and environmental message.
Ah, ces français! It would appear that 2007 will mark the year when Amazonian superfoods and anti-aging elixirs become the latest and hottest anti-aging products to have. The frenzy has already hit France, England and many other Euro countries. Beauty Match will keep you posted as to when this trend hits Canada!

“Weight training can make old muscles new again – down to the genetic level”
READ this article right now!
I apologize for the assertive opening, but if you missed this Toronto Star article that appeared on May 23, 2007, you’ll want to drop everything to read it. This incredibly revealing article explicitly outlines the benefits of strength training. In the words of the Star article, “we improved or reversed to a large extent the … gene signature of aging” thanks to weight training.
Once you see the physique and read the story of a 70-year-old ex-teacher who is still actively lifting weights, you might run to your nearest gym and sign up. If you’ve been an inactive member, then this article might get you back into the gym!
Pumping iron modifies genes, study suggests.
